Re: Alternate Assessment
This is my 3rd year doing it. They change it every year so you can't even do the same thing 2 years in a row!!!!

Re: Alternate Assessment
The biggest time saver is completing the assessement online. Have you done that?
The assessment really is just an assessment of if the sped teachers can follow the directions from the state....which are soooooo specific!
BOCES scores all of the books in Nassau County and I attended the scoring last year. You wouldn't believe the amount of "No Scores" based on teacher error for minute things like using white out (Complete no score on the book if used once) or just making an error on a date.
Completely ridiculous! Thet take it very seriously in my building....When it just isn't an accurate reflection of a childs ability or potential anyway.

This year is the first year we are using profile. I tried it 2 years ago, but it wasn't like it is this year! It is so easy with profile! Last year we got one no score and it was because we forgot to check off the ELA box on the verifying evidence label!!!!! Ridiculous!

Re: Alternate Assessment
I am the head of it at my school and all I can say about it is
We have to assess 14 year olds who function on the same level as 6 month olds.....its so sad and frustrating because it is so much more of a reflection of the teacher rather than the student!!
