I've never hosted Thanksgiving, but if you go to butterball.com, they have a calculator you can use to figure out how much to make.

I've never even SAW a bird larger than 24 lbs!!!
I like a little bit of leftovers, so I usually get 1.5 lbs per person.... that way you have several days of sandwiches for the family...

We're just hosting my parents this year so we'll be a party of 4. I just bought a 12.5 lb turkey. We don't want too many leftovers!

 My dad and i go on this major hunt every year. It's our tradition. This weekend i saw a 28 pounder at stop n shop but it was fresh and we were scared that we would all get salmonella buying a fresh turkey 20 days before cooking it

We had 12 one year and got a 25lb bird and it was way too much.
I think this year I'm going to do about 14-16lbs for that many people. IMO left overs are over rated after the first day.

I get about a 22-24 lb bird (25 if can find it) for about 24 people.
My aunt usually ends up bringing a smaller cooked turkey as well just in case and there are always plenty of leftovers.

There's a turkey calculator on Butterball's website, just input how many people and if you want leftovers.

I just checked the Butter Ball Turkey calculator and a family of 6 should have approx a 11lb turkey. That equals a Bird a couple at your house.. OMG I am going to see you eating a Turkey sandwich everyday for a month

Yes you will...DEAL WITH IT! You will also see me slowly crashing at my desk from that Triptiphan(thanx) but, what can i say, we LOVE Turkey in our house. Of course we always run out of Mashed Potatos and Gravy and stuffing before the Turkey but it's still good

oh, but turkey sandwiches are the best part I like it only with mayo and good bakery bread

I can't help it we're Italian!
I can;t help it...We're not . But Tom is and OMG i could never do Thanksgiving at his house. All they do all day is feed you. I like my food but in moderation please. It tastes so good during but then your belly feels so bad after.
