Dieting on vacation. Tips, please?

I'm going to Disney next week and I really don't want my progress to go down the hole. As far as I know my hotel has no fitness area, but I will be doing a LOT of walking. I know you always do in Disney, but we're the kind of people who try to maximize our activities rather than minimizing our walking, so we criss-cross the parks and park hop at least once a day (lots of walking to the entrance gates), so I'm hoping that I won't be hurt by not going to the gym all week.

I'm more worried about food. Typically we try to eat as cheaply as possible for most meals (or else we'd never be able to afford it) so that means muffins, pizza, fish&chips, etc. I know I can't eat like that for a week!

Are there any tips you follow on vacation (or at Disney specifically) to not kill your diet?

THANKS!

Disney is starting to have some healthier options - fruit stands, salads & wraps on menus. Maybe pack things like breakfast or power bars to fill in some hungry spots. Splitting dishes is another way to cut calories.

Have fun!!!!!

I would also just bring a backpack with a soft cooler in it. Stop and get cold cuts and WW bread and fruit-eat that during the day then you can afford a nicer (and healthier) dinner! GL

When i was in Europe, I brought Cereal bars for breakfast everday and healthy snacks for mid day hunger. It worked out really well...my friends wished they had done the same!

When I was in Jamaica I worked out every single day and also walked and swam every day. Then it was an all-inclusive so when we would eat at the buffet I would eat on a appetizer plate and not get a full size plate. I would eat what I wanted but only enough to fill the appetizer plate. Also brought two pairs of tight pants to wear when we went out for dinner. My pants would be so tight I didn't want to eat anymore. Kinda crazy but it worked..I was able to lose at my next WI after vacation. Chat Icon
