silly question...edited for clarification
When you want to personalize something that has your family name ...Like "The Thompsons"...what is the correct way to display the name when it ends in a vowel???
's just s...how does it work...

Re: silly question...
You can just leave it plain s at the end..ie. if your last name is Thompson..it's Thompsons (plural). If you want it to say your house, it's Thompsons' house (belonging to all of you)...if only one of you...Thompson's house..hope this helps!

Re: silly question...edited for clarification
I'm going to stick with my original answer, I think...an apostrophe usually means possession...I don't know if that applies on a mailbox situation...how about simplifying and trying, "The_____ Family"?

Re: silly question...edited for clarification
You do not need the apostrophe.
It mostly means "the smiths" meaning more than one smith. Not so much ownership as in the "smith's" house.
That's the way I interpret it anyway.

How would you pluralize that name for "The Iannitti's" or "The Iannittis"
you need the apostrophe right?
NO apostrophe. I would say you mean more than one Ianintti (plural) not that the Iannittis own something which would be "Iannitti's".
