I freaked out yesterday
one of my students decided yesterday to "spend time" in the closet (no one knew he was there) and another student locked him in there...i didnt have the key because the other teacher (CTT class) had it and since we had to prep each other he wasnt there. I had to wait 5 mins til he came back to unlock it.
but shockingly the student was fine, he enjoying being in there. my concern after making sure the child was ok was that how much trobule could i get into? i knew i had to tell my AP but i was terrfied because they already pretty much cruicfy me for my bad classroom management, which in this school is a challenge.
in the end i wrote it up, told the guidance counselor and my AP and they both told me that that specific kid has issues so dont worry too much about it, I told his guardian afterschool what happened and he was cool with it in the sense that he knew his kid was not doing the right thing. and the kid even told me yea partially it was his fault.
ugh, i was so freaking worried that this could be a horrible case against me from the admin and parents but so far it turned out not to be the case for now.
Im really stressed while being at this school, im sorry but being a first year teacher and being the situation ive been in since the 1st day of school i totally feel lost.
I need to find a new job (school), i dunno how much more of this i can take!

Re: I freaked out yesterday
Stuff happens to the best of us--we are one person against 25 or 30 people who would rather not do work... don't think you're the only one to ever have a strange incident happen.

Re: I freaked out yesterday
hang in there! everything worked out, thank goodness. as long as you document everything and tell a supervisor anything that's out of the ordinary you'll be okay... just cover your butt and it'll be fine.
