Did you experience any depression*UPDATE*
while you were still pregnant??
I have been overly moody lately and my DH actually brought this up to me earlier. He told me that I should ask you all.. LOL.. and my Dr. if pregnancy can affect your hormones this much... Its hard to explain but I had normal highs and lows with my first pregnancy, but the lows I am feeling with this pregnancy are REALLY-REALLY low...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Did you experience any depression
I think you should see a Doctor. I work as a social worker in a hospital and see cases like yours. It could be hormonal but does that aspect matter as much as how u feel? Maybe u need a therapist to talk to throughout your pregnancy? Maybe talking to someone will alleviate some of your depression. Good luck to you and stay well.

Re: Did you experience any depression
I actually just talked to my dr. this week about it. And got the old brush off ...it is just your hormones. It certainly does not feel that way I hope you get a better answer then me.

Re: Did you experience any depression
Doctors didnt always get their degrees based on class. There are better ones out there than ones that will tell u not to worry if u are feeling down. I would think u should either seek further advice or change drs altogether. Its about you not the doctor and how he feels. Imagine u broke your leg, you knew you broke your leg and the dr said dont worry about it...would u still not worry?

This is the best analogy I've heard!
I was moodier when I was pregnant - and still want to kick myself for crying at work once. I tend to pride myself on being the "stable one".
I think you need to talk to your ob/gyn- and if you get the brush off, impress upon him/her the seriousness of it. Being pregnant is a tough thing to go through. Not only is your body going through changes that no one is really thrilled about, your hormones are in a state of frenzy, worrying about how to handle a newborn, thinking you're going to forget to feed him/her, finances combined with the fact that you realize that you are now truly tied to your husband for life.
If it was all chalked up to hormones, you're still depressed and are asking for help!

Re: Did you experience any depression*UPDATE*
Just wanted to let you know that after I talked to my Dr. today he prescribed something for me.
I know the baby will be ok, but it still worries DH.. I am trying to convince him that a pregnancy with my hormones balanced would be better than all these "drops" in my emotion..
The Dr. asked me a bunch of questions including is my house clean.. (?!?!) What difference does that make? LOL.. I told him when my Husband does it.. (cause of my back- I have not been the active cleaner, and DH doesnt want me using too many chemicals..) then the DR asked if I was High maintenence!!! Go figure..
For anyone who has had similar concerns with their dr. or know someone who has.. are these a part of the "normal" questions they ask?? I have never been on any anit-depressant medicine.
TIA, sorry to be a pItA..

Maybe the house clean question would have to do with if you care about "appearance"? And aren't we all high maintenance?

You are not a PITA! We all go through things like this. I have been extra emotional lately- but not depressed- but it affects everyone differently. You need to do whats best for you and your baby.

Re: Did you experience any depression*UPDATE*
House cleaning usually has to do with an OCD perfectionist type of thinking. Though I think alot of us have perfectionist ways in many areas. Drs try to get a jist of whats going on and not exaclty diagnose on one general way of thinking but follow a story line. If you take meds to help you and your baby, then you should be cogratulated. Most people cant take the right steps to protect themselves or their family always ending in bad siuations and sometimes tragedys. I think you should congratulate yourself for not being selfish and taking the right steps.

Re: Did you experience any depression*UPDATE*
There is something called "anti-post partum" My friend is a shrink and she said lots of women have what was used to be called "baby blues" However, now they finally realize that it can happen while you are pregnant. I hope you seek help with a wonderful doctor. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Re: Did you experience any depression*UPDATE*
Thank you all for being so supportive.. It seems to be a little more common than I thought I received several FM's from ladies experiencing similar feelings...
I made it a point to tell my OB that I am not depressed 110% of the time.. In fact I have some really happy times.. even a day-like today- that was really good..
The thing that was getting to me was the peaks and valley of this pregnancy. With my son I was probably experiencing the "normal" hormonal rollercoaster.. But with this one the Highs were Really High.. and the lows were (are) underground.. Sometimes it was something as simple as my two and half y/o son getting into something that he wasnt supposed to or something more common like DH and I arguing about finanaces, but I would fall.. and when I hit, it was not pretty.
I would cry or get really angry, to the point my subconcious was telling me I was losing my mind.. I knew better, but I just couldnt stop the tears. You know the phrase "Its not worth crying over spilt milk" ??? I LITERALLY cried over spilt milk.. after my son unscrewed his sippy cup and dropped it on the floor.. No matter how hormonal you are whe you are preggo, it shouldnt stop your day. It did for me, and thats (one of the reasons) why I asked my Dr. for support. I hope this post will help more ladies that think their hormones may jsut be out of whack.. see that maybe it is more than they think.
I thank the couple of ladies that FM'd me and gave me all the helpful advice and support. I will keep you all posted with how I am feeling and Thanks again for letting me share this with you.
