We cancelled our IUI - update
I feel so relieved -
The doctor told me this morning that he has to go out of town on Friday last minute so we'd have to go to the City office for the IUI Friday...we would need an appointment, it takes 2.5 hours, there's no parking, no place to go hang out while we wait, I'd have to miss at least 1/2 a day of work...plus, DH would have to give me the intramuscular HCG shot tonight. The nurse was teaching me how to teach him to do it (that is a BIG needle) and the whole thing was just stressing me out so much that I sat with the doctor and nurse for 30 minutes discussing whether we even needed to do the IUI at this point. I have 3 follies ready and 2 more almost ready. We have no MF at all, so the IUI would only increase our chances by 3% or so. He told me he was totally fine with us just doing timed intercourse this cycle, that the stress and everything would be more detrimental than it would be worth it for that 3% increased chance.
So, I'm going back to the office at 5:30 for the nurse to give me the HCG, then go home and BD like bunnies for the next 3 days.
The way I look at it is if it's meant to happen, it will happen whether we do the IUI or not at this point. Hoping this works!

Good luck!!!  Hey, you're making me very nervous about this big needle--- I'm starting to think that I don't know everything that i need to know about an IUI   
Just got back from the dr myself- he said if he'd have to guess that i should be ready to trigger ovulation either at the end of this week or early next week.

Do you know what they're triggering you with? If it's Ovidrel, that's a subcutaneous shot just like the Gonal-F. Since I've been having the cyst problem every month he wanted to use the intramuscular HCG this time to see if that helped. Good luck to you - glad to hear you're progressing!

Good luck Carolyn!! For the same reasons you stated, we haven't rushed into IUI. We are trying three cycles with timed intercourse before moving on to anything else. We are right smack in our second cycle now.
I got my trigger yesterday and barely even felt the needle.

Good luck! I'll be one day behind you in my second "official" cycle also!
Our original plan was just to do timed intercourse anyway. But last month the timing worked out perfectly, IUI is covered under my insurance, etc. that we said what the h*ll, let's just go for it. If we can't do it this cycle then its ok.

Good luck and although you have had the shot by now, it's not nearly as bad as you think. It's a bigger needle cuz it's intramuscular...but you don't nearly feel it since it's going into muscle.

Thanks everyone, I went back last night and you were all right, the HCG was nothing. Since we BD'd Tuesday night, we were told to abstain last night and we are supposed to BD tonight as late as possible since I will be O'ing around 6 am tomorrow morning. Good thing DH's work holiday party is tonight so he'll be home late. The doctor said if we are up for it we can BD again tomorrow morning or just tomorrow night. So this is it! Beta on 12/21 if AF doesn't show.

its so nice to hear your dr and nurse listened to u and helped u make the less stressful decision. my dr is rushing us to get IUI and he doesnt even listen to my questions about timed intercourse and/or clomid. what drs do u guys go to that offer help w/ timed intercourse.
i would love to try that b4 IUI (since all of our tests are normal)......
