Riu Cancun Review

Although we had a wonderful vacation I would never recommend this hotel.

The bad:
1. I booked through the hotel for the price of $1500. When I got there it was $1800- they forgot to mention tips and taxes fees.
2. The AC in our room did not work properly. We had maintenance come but they said that was as cold as it got.
3. There are 2 sit down restaurants and you have to make reservations in person and they book up by 7:30 AM.
4. Only one pool was warm, the other ones were cold as was the jacuzzi.
5. Our toilet backed up one day and a few minutes later I discovered stains on the sheets that were not from us. It took 3 phone calls, 1 hour and a visit to the front desk to have them fix this.
6. The shower was dark and the water has a strange smell.
7. You have to get to the pool/beach very early to get a chair, if you are there at 10 it is difficult to find a spot.
8. We requested a non smoking room and everything was fine until the 2nd to last day- smokers moved in to the room next door to us and it was as if they were in our room smoking
9. I am a very big fish eater (I will eat raw clams, octopus, sushi etc) but I did not like there fish except for the shrimp. Everything was very "fishy"


The good:
1. Beautiful views
2. DRINKS They actually brought us drinks while waiting to check in.
3. Nachos- they had such yummy nachos.
4. Location- it is right across the street from a nice mall.
5. Service- everyone at this place was very friendly.

WE stayed at OMNI Cancun..the hotel is very nice..i had no complains
