im making one for new years. Layers on pound cake cubes, cool whip, and chocolate pudding. You can add chocolate chips also.

check giada de lorentis ('everyday italian') on food tv.... I vaguely recall her making one with a panatone (those boxed italian christmas cakes) I know panatone come in dozens of flavors, and I'm sure you could find one with chocolate....
then the recipe will be both choco-trifle-y, AND christmas-y

I got this easy recipe from a friend of mine. Here are the layers from bottom to top.
1. Brownies 2. chocoloate pudding (I use 2 boxes of instant jell-o pudding and let it set for a little bit 3. chocolate chips and Heath Bar Toffee Chips 5. Cool Whip 6. garnish with more toffee and chocolate chips.
