How about this wack job?-spinoff to gifts
I work in an affluent area where 99% of the parents can give a gift and often give nice ones like $30 gift cards- not a class gift, but by themselves.
So, I have one of these parents in my class who comes dressed in her FURS (yes, furS), drives a merceedes and has a huge rock on her hand. Can she afford a gift? yes! Well this is how cheap some people are:
Her kids go to before and after care. One of teh parents was taking up a collection of $20 for all the teachers who run the program... there are 4. Well, she asks last minute for the collecting parent's phone # way after the deadline and the teahers said they would tell the parent to call her. Ok. So to make a long story short, this parent of mine was told by the collecting parent to drop off the money the next day and gave her directions to her house. My parent never shows and therefore the collecting parent did not include her in the gift.
The next day, my parent comes up to one of the teachers and asks why she didn't get a thank you note for the gift she sent. When told they never received one, the parent says that it was the one the collection was going around for. They checked the card and showed her that her name wasn't on it. She kept insisting that she dropped off teh moneyu at the person's house (didn't remember her name or where she lived- which is right next to the school ) and began arguing with the teacher. The teacher told her to call the parent right away to clear up this mess and she refused, cursed at her and ran out.
Can you imagine trying to pass off a gift that you were not a part of as your own!
Oh, and yes, I did not get a gift from her also and neither did the child's one on one aide!
