very strange holiday gifts
I teach first grade in a school in queens... I expected that I wouldn't get holiday gifts from the kids.. which is totally fine. But I didn't expect to get these very strange gifts. The two that take the cake are the ring of shrimp with coctail sauce and a used bottle of nail polish with the top bitten up. Is that the strangest thing you've ever heard or what?

awww the nail polish was probably the only thing your student could find that they wanted to give you as for the cocktail shrimp hmmmm def weird lol

They usually really want to bring you something but they and their parents don't have the $$$ so they bring stuff from home...it's very cute

I got a Scantily Clad Flapper Girl Statue once. It was like 12 inches tall. My student was so happy to give it to me but I was trying so hard not to laugh. I told him "Oh I have to show to Mrs. XX and MissXXX, they will be so jealous. I walked out side of our classrooms and they were standing in the hallway and I said
"And the Oscar goes to ME!! We were PIOurP!!
It was a great conversation piece. My parents made me display it at a party they were having later that week with our neighbors. Eventually my sister took it to college with her as a joke to decorate her new apt with her roommate. Then someone broke it!
In the end it's the thought that counts. Kids are so sweet!!!!

I once got a defrosted frozen fish (in a box)..supermarket brand 
I got this sunset scene on bamboo once
This year nothing strange.....YET

A teacher I used to work with got lingerie from a male parent once. The rest of the department teased her endlessly.

I got a card from an ex-student the other day.
On the front is a martini glass with a candy cane in it.
on the inside it says....
"Eggnog is for wussies..."
Talk about APPROPRIATE!
Her mom must have known that after teaching her, you need a good drink! Everyone who recieved the card got a good laugh out of it.

omg sooo funny! at least they were thoughtful and creative!
i got a bar of ivory soap all wrapped up in pretty wrapping paper (um, i don't think i smell bad... )
and i also got a sausage! yes a piece or meat from your local deli. Mmmm.
