Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

When did you get their hair cut?

If you guys have seen pics of my DH, he has long hair... I like long hair, but not when they are so young you mistake them for a girl, and I'd like it to be his decision to grow his hair...

So, that being said... when did you cut your little boy's hair, and where did you go?
Anyone ever got to Rockabilly?

There is no way Cailen can be mistaken for a girl, long or short hair. Chat Icon

Re: Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

I went to my hair salon right after his first birthday. I basically just had them cut it away from his eyes. It's still long and I don't want to cut it againChat Icon I had my mom trim the front, so I'm just going to do that for a while.

I buzzed Tyler's yesterday. I did it on the highest setting so it just looks like he got a hair cut and not a buzz cut. His hair was out of control.

John was born with a ton of thick black hair, by the time he was 10 months old I couldnt take it. He got a cute "little boy" haircut. 3 months later I was buzzing his hair every 3 weeks.

His first trim by mommy was at 6 mos (he had real long sideburns). Second mommy trim was 11 mos - bangs, and sideburns mostly. First real haircut was at 13 mos. He went to the same place that Dh goes too - a local barber shop.

Re: Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

We JUST had my son's hair cut for the first time a couple of days before Christmas -- just shy of being 17 months old. I just had the cute "little boy haircut" done. We took him to Zippity Doos in Merrick...they were fantastic. They have cute cars the kids sit in with a TV at each station where they play VCR tapes with kid's shows. They also try to entertain the children if they are upset or being difficult about the haircut.

DS's didn't have much hair - so his first cut was at 18 m. I was trying to hold onto his curl, until someone said it looked like a mullet - I went that week to Zippity Doos.

Now he goes every 2-3 months to the barber.

I buzzed Jared's hair for a long time. I just recently started taking him to a barber. He's 2 and a half.

We did it around 10 months of age for Ryan and went to a Barber down the rd from us- Mr. Nicks in Patchogue. He screamed his head off, but it needed to be done. We prefer him to have short hair, so now DH just buzzes it off with a buzzer.

Re: Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

Jacob's 1st haircut was at 2 years old..

We went to Curly Q in Syosset. It was 28 for about 10 minutes in the chair bu tyou got the lock of hair and a certificate.......

since that Haircut, he has gotten 1 more and I now go to the Barber shop in Plainview in the Denny's shopping center... They have cars and tv's just like Curly Q but much cheaper.... It was $14

Lucas' hair is getting long now and definitely poofy but I think I will try to hold out until he turns one.

Re: Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

I have been cutting josh's hair every month since he's been 6 months old.

his bangs grow so quick, I can't handle them in his eyes. In the summertime, I hate to see him sweaty in the stroller with hair stuck to his neck and face.

I put him in the tub and trim the back. Then while he is in the bumbo or highchair I do his bangs.

I love his hair long, but he looks a mess if he goes over a month without a trim.

Re: Haircut questions? Moms of boys...

I've been cutting it myself for awhile now. He gets a trim about every 3-4 weeks. I can't stand it hanging over his ears and if I wait longer it starts to get close to his eyes. I'll probably take him to a barber at about one to even out what I've done to the poor kid.
