Going to start house hunting!
So this is our year! DH and I are totally ready to house hunt...
On that note - I love looking at pics of all your gorgeous homes! Pls post tons of pics! I am so excited to see what kind of houses are out there and how beautifully you've all decorated them!
We're going to look in Suffolk first. Any suggestions of towns we should absolutely check out ?

Re: Going to start house hunting!
Your first stop should probably be to a bank or mortgage broker to find out what kind of mortgage you can afford and what you can spend on a house. From there you can get an idea of what areas/types of houses are in your price range! Good luck to you! It is so exciting

Re: Going to start house hunting!
When I started looking, I made a spreadsheet of all the towns in the MLS list. I thought it was every town in Nassau and Suffolk but it was actually only the towns that had houses for sale.
Then I struck out the ones I knew we wouldn't want to look in for various reasons.
Then I got on Google maps and looked up the rest. If they were possibilities, I did a MLS search with no criteria to get an idea of what the lowest priced houses looked like, and how many of them there were.
Then we got in the car and drove around! If we had stuck to only the towns we knew, we would never have found our new home. We soon learned that we really liked the Smithtown/St. James area and that's where we wound up buying.
Ditto about the mortgage thing and I also met with LIHP - Long Island Housing Partnership - to figure out what we could afford, etc.
Very exciting, good luck with your search!!
