Zoo question
My family is planning to come to NY for a visit in May. I wanted to take Mikayla to the zoo, I think she would love it
She will be 14 months old
Is that too young?
TIA

Re: Zoo question
I think she might get a kick out of it.... I would do the one in Central park as opposed to the Bronx Zoo. We took Nate the the Central Park when he was 16 months old and he had a good time. Kids can pet the animals and it's not as overwhelming.

Re: Zoo question
DS went to a petting zoo at 5 months & loved it, so I would think that 14 mos is a fine age!

Re: Zoo question
Steph Central Park would be good then we can do something in the city like take her to American Girl or something. Maybe someone has good advice for things to do in the city with a 14 month old?

I agree with this. If it's not too far for you. That was the first zoo we brought Steven too. It's small enough to do the whole entire zoo in just a couple of hours and they have a petting zoo if you want to go there. It's right next to the regular zoo.

When we go to the CP zoo, we always ride the carousel in the park, sometimes take a hansom cab ride (so though), and stop by FAO Schwarz to play the "Big" piano and have ice cream.
The Children's Museum of Manhattan (on W 83rd St) is alot of fun, too. Your DD would love the Dora/Diego floor.
So much to do!! We love our trips to the "big city".

Re: Zoo question
She should love it. Although our experience was pretty bad. DS was 18 months and all he wanted to do was go into the animal areas with the animals. So when we told him he couldn't he would flip out. It was a 2 hour tantrum. She is younger so it actually might be easier.

Re: Zoo question
I don't think it is too young. Me and my family took my DD to the Bronx Zoo when she was 4 weeks old, along with my 4 week old nephew and 4 year old niece. We had a blast.

Re: Zoo question
So funny that you mentioned this Stephanie - my friend and I were talking about taking our kids to the zoo this summer as well, and they will be the same age - I also want to go to the aquarium - I think that age is perfect - they are totally aware of things around them!!! Cailen is fascinated by my SIL's dog now - i'm sure seeing a big animal at the zoo will definitely capture his interest!!!

Re: Zoo question
We're there a lot on weekends. We go to the Bryant Park Carousel, hang out have some wine & cheese & watch the Bacci ball tournaments while the kids run around.
Love the Central Park Zoo! I could watch those polar bears & penguins all day!
You could have brunch at the Central Park Boathouse since she's probably going to get up earlier than the brunch crowd.
