Disney experts

DH and I just booked a trip to Disney for the MLK long weekend. :) We both haven't been tere since we were kids and even then it was just once. We only have 3 days.... We definitely want to do Magic Kingdom and probably Epcot....

I would love to hear recommendations on the MUST sees, the things that we should not bother with and any helpful hints or suggestions-- like must do exhibits or rides, where the lines are, how to save money, etc.

FYI: We're in our early 30's, no kids... but kids at heart! Chat Icon

My advice: Buy the "Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World". It's a great book with LOTS of good advice, suggestions, tips, etc.

Also, try www.allearsnet.com for lots of info, too!

Try to make dinner reservations before you go (trust me, you'll thank yourselves later when you're not waiting 2 hours for a table).

Good luck and HAVE FUN!!! Chat Icon

Re: Disney experts

MLK weekdn is going to be PACKED, so I reccomend using Fastpass as much as possible and using the unofficla guide touring plans.

Must see in EPCOT:
SOARIN!!!!!!!!!!!! (AMAZING)
Mission:Space (the real one, don't do the wimpy version)
Test Track
I would also say Spaceship earth, but I don't think it will be reopened yet
Honey I shrunk the Audience
And people LOVE Illuminations. I like it.

I also like Living with the Land

at MK:
Philharmagic
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain RR
Spectromagic and Wishes
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

There's a lot more that's good, depending on which characters you like. I love Winnie the Pooh and Snow White so I love those rides, and It's a Small World is not exactly thrilling, but I kind of think it's a must see.
I'd skip Peter Pan's Flight, it always has an INSANE line and it's not THAT good.
I'd skip Stitch's Great Escape, The Tiki Room, Country Bears and Jungle Cruise.

I personally ADORE Carousel of Progress, but most people think it's boring.

Monsters INc Laugh Floor is hit or miss. But it's cute. (It's a comedy club where the animated charcters interact with the audience using new technology) At EPCOT, there's a similar interactive experience - Turtle Talk with Crush.

If you go to MGM:
Fantasmic! (this alone is worth it!)
Rock n Rollercoater
Tower of Terror
The Great Movie Ride (ride twice, and ask to see the ganster show AND the cowboy show)
Backlot Tour (last time we got to be in the stunts demo portion..SO much fun!!!!).

I also like Muppetvision 3D because I'm a muppet fan, and Star Turs might make you lose your lunch but it has nice theming.
The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular rocks! (And FH got to be an "extra' on our last trip!)
Beauty and The Beast
Little Mermaid also rock!

I'd skip Sounds Dangerous, the animation tour (it would be good, but there's no animation going on there) and the Narnia set unless you love Narnia. I really didn't find Lights! Motors! Action! Stunt show to be that impressive. But if your DH likes cars, he will probably love it. They show and break down many many auto stunts.

At Animal Kingdom..I have to tell you on this trip we spent the entire day going on Expedition Everest over and over and over again. It's INCREDIBLE!
I also love the Kali River RApids, Kilimanjiaro Safari
The Festival of the Lion King
It's Tough to be a Bug!

The Nemo show was ok. I actually fell asleep, but that doesn't mean it's bad, I was very tired and it's pretty long.

Restaurants we liked in Magic Kingdom...

Tony's Town Square (Table service)

Also for quick serve...There is a place in Liberty Square near Haunted Mansion

In Epcot...

The italian restaurant (forget the name)

For little snacks...The little bakery in Norway...

Rides we loved...

Buzz Lightyear
Carousel of Progress

I liked Space Mountain...DH was not a fan

Let me ask DH about other places we liked

Couldn't agree more! If you stay for the light show at Epcot, and hang out around England, you can walk to Jellyrolls from there. SO MUCH FUN! I think they charge a cover, but it's not much, the drinks are not overpriced (think $3.50/$4 for a beer).

On my not-to-miss list are:

Magic Kingdom:
Philharmagic
Pirates of the Caribbean
Haunted Mansion

Epcot:
Test Track
Soarin'

MGM (if you go)
Illuminations (light show, get there early)
Muppets 3-D

Animal Kingdom
Dinosaur
It's a Bug's Life

Definitely use the Fast Pass, it'll save you so much time.
