which School district is better ? Middle country or Comsewougue
I never realized this before but Port jefferson station is on the boarder of 2 schools so I was wondering which are better or are both poor ?

We are in Comsewogue SD and I do believe it is considered better. From what I hear. I know, When my girlfriend was selling her house in PJS in Middle country SD her realitor told her it was not a selling point. I only have experience so far with the elementary school, and so far so good!

We are in Middle Country and I've never come across anyone that was unhappy with the district thus far. My son receives special services and I have issues with that, but as a whole, I think it's a decent district.
I don't know anything about Comswogue, but we might be moving to Port Jeff Station, so I'm curious as well!

Coram is the same way, some is Middle Country, some is Longwood. Actually I think a lot of the larger towns have more than one district.

Just to add to the confusion some people in Port Jeff Station go to Three Village SD. I live in E. Setauket and there is a small area just south of where I live that is PJS and they go to Three Village. From what I have heard Comsewogue is considered a better school district than Middle Country.

We are Middle Country SD Cant say weather its better or worse then another because we have always been in Middle Country sd. But doesn't it depend on where you live what SD your child will be in. They don't let you choose.

With the amount people pay in taxes, they should let you choose! In MI they have school of choice and it works out quite well there. I wish they offered that here.

I went to Comsewogue and it was a really good school back then. I loved it. It has gone wayyyy down hill since then. I have heard alot of horrible stories from parents and teachers in that district.

I have to agree...this is true for MANY school districts all over Long Island.
My Dh went to Middle Country and LOVED it, and went back and did his student teaching there, and he said things have sure changed..so I dont think it is the ditrict it is a whole different generation.

I went to Middle Country schools when I was younger and so did my sister. We had two different experiences and it was not because of the school it was because of us. She found the bad kids and I hung out with the good kids. Same education and we both got good grades but there are good and bad in every school and depending on your child they will find one or the other. I think that is a huge part of it.
As far as test scores, I think the two districts are about even.

Both are good school district- not the best nor the worst..
Since Im currently house hunting Ive been trying to stay w/in these districts but my preferred is Comsewogue...
Im a graduate of Newfield HS (MC district) and had no complaints-

I am a Newfield grad, and my mom and sister currently teach in the district. It has come a LONG way over the last 10 years. There have been some great retirement incentives that opened up spots to young and dynamic teachers, and it's definitely a community on the upswing. (It's not as good as where I teach, but obviously I'm extremely biased! )
I student taught in Comsewogue in 1995. It had weak academics, weak parent involvement, a haggared union and more than it's fair share of older, unmotivated teachers. I am SURE in the years since I was there it has gotten better, but I have no first hand knowledge.
