Atlantis--Need Opinions
Hi! I am so confused on whether to book a trip to Atantis for this July in the new Reef Building. The reviews of the resort are so conflicting. I have visited the resort before in 2003, did not stay there and we loved it...but now i am so confused. Is the food prices really that horrible? Will we be disappointed. I really need some opinions from someone whu has stayed there recently. TIA...

I haven't been there yet but we are going Feb 16. I can let you know how it was when I get back on the 20th. I know after reading some of the reviews online I am nervous too. We are staying at the beach tower not the Reef

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
I just went to Atlantis this past November and thought the food was very expensive. For a quick breakfast one morning DH and I bought 2 plain bagel, 2 apple juices, one banana and a fruit cup and it cost $36. They add gratuity to everything. For a 2 night stay we spent $600 on food and drinks.
We had dinner at Fathoms one night and the bill was about $140,(that is with no appetizers, no dessert and 2 glasses of wine) but the food was really good.

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
I spent an afternoon there last year, we had lunch at a casual outdoor cafe... four people ordered four sandwiches, two sodas and two frozen alcoholic drinks and the bill was well over $100. Luckily, I was there as a guest of the publicist and didn't have to pay it, but I was shocked at how pricey it was!

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
I have been to Atlantis and the food is VERY expensive. There are places to have dinner outside the resort that are much more reasonable.

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
I went in August I have tons to say about it and will be very honest about any questions you may so ask away.
imo the food IS pricey but we got the meal plan for casual dining and i thought it was great, it was very rare we had to lay out EXTRA cash and we dont drink so for us i wasnt too concerned that it wasnt included.
we did not leave the atlantis property other then the ride to and from the airport..unless ur comfortable walking outside the propery--which i have mixed feelings about i wouldnt go outside just for food.
the coral and beach towers r "good enough but mostly filled with teens and kids"
the royal tower is goregeous--thats where we stayed and it was moderate..
the reef looked cool but $$$$ id stick with the royal over every option..
ask away...

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
Were there last July and enjoyed every second!
The food was pricey, but it was no more pricey than on any other vacation we have taken. We didn't get the meal plan and kept track of what we spent, and were shocked to see that we actually saved money by not getting it. We ate at many of the more expensive places, and drank a bit too!

Re: Atlantis--Need Opinions
i went to the atlantis on my honeymoon in october '05. we had a blast! we stayed in the royal towers and had the more expensive meal plan...but that was only cause it was our honeymoon. we did it up big lol. if you don't go for the meal plan, then yes, you will probably spend a fortune on food. drinks are drinks, and pool food is pool food...any hotel over charges for that stuff. but my husband and i also swam with dolphins and took excursions outside of the hotel so that made it better, of course. your in the bahamas so when you go into "town" of course it's going to be a bit shady...but pretty cool to expierence. i would recommend a small meal plan. if you are looking to save, do not stay in any of the new towers or royale. they will be the most $$$$. FM me for anything...i can give you the dirt
