Those who have a Maine Coon cat
Does your maine coon not like to be held nor want to go on your lap? I've read that main coons are more independant than the average domestic cat and will rarely be your"baby". Ours loves to be petted, will follow me around, lay down next to me purring her heart away, but never wants to be on my lap.

Did you get her recently? Many cats will take awhile to warm up to you. Our newest cat took a long time to sit on our laps even though she was always looking for attention.

Re: Those who have a Maine Coon cat
I was hoping that was just the case. We've had her for a few months... she's progressively becoming more friendly. We rescued her and another at the same time, and the other has been our laps since day 2. I guess I'll just have to have patience. ( The maine coon looks like a better lap warmer with all that fur )

Re: Those who have a Maine Coon cat
I've had my Maine Coon for 4 years - he is NOT a lapcat. Every once in a while if Im sleeping he'll come and sleep on me, but for the most part, he's pretty independent.
