I love when parents just show up and expect to see you right then and there!
It has happened 3 times in the last week and I am sick of it! NO I cannot drop everything and meet with you...ever hear of an appointment!

this one is my favorite! I love when they decide it is convenient for them.

My school won't let them up. They're pretty good about that.

I think this all the time- I am always grateful when parents come in, and I know their time is sometimes short, but it's really hard when I'm in the middle of teaching and expected to drop everything.
The interruptions from staff and administration are ridiculous as well.

All schools should do this. Even though they are parents, it is still a security issue. No one should be allowed to just walk to a classroom.
I only had it once, immediately after last period. I explained to the mother I was giving extra-help (it's in our contract, 20 minutes every day) and that she would have to wait while I helped the other students. She wasn't happy. Luckily, I had a meeting so she was limited to three minutes.

My school has been cracking down on security. Last year there was a parent who was there for 6th grade P/T Conferences and showed up at the library on her way out to tell me that I shouldn't use 11 y.o. kids to stroke my ego.
