personal q.. how to decide what meds to give up?

hi everyone.
i am not currently ttc. but hopefully within '08 sometime i will be.

my question to you is....how to decide what meds to give up? i know that utimately the decision is between you and your gyno...but when the gyno cant give you definate answers what do you do??

for example.... if you are on antidepressants.... if you are on blood pressure medication...if you are on medication for acid reflux.... if you are on medication for migraines... if you are on medication for a hangnail....etc..lol you get my drift.

i know that there are many meds that are a definate no no...but some meds are are up in the air or no definative studies done for sure.

i would like to err on the side of caution...but i also dont want to be very sick while trying to ttc either.

has anyone had this issue and how did you resolve it? thank you...jennifer

I took prevacid my entire pregnancy. I have horrible GERD and was not about to give it up. I also get very bad, at times debilating panic attacks so I take xanax and I did take it a few times during my pregnancy as well. My OB knew and was ok with me taking these drugs.

I switched my antidepressant to Prozac while I was TTC (it's suppossed to be the safest). Then when I found out I was pregnant I stopped the Prozac at the request of my OBGYN. I figured I'd give it a try without it but I promised myself if I started to feel like I was slipping into a depression or getting really anxious that I would start back up. I've been lucky and have been coping really well for the last 6 mths but I think if you really need them then by all means stay on them. Most of the time the benefits outweigh the risks.
