has anyone ever admin the LAB-R to incoming K students ?
is it a full day assignment ? you are trained/prepared for it, what else can you tell me about it ?

I haven't given it on the elem. level, but on the jr. high/high school level. It shouldn't take longer than 2 hours. It is a modified version of the Language Assessment Battery (LAB) that used to be the only way of assessing the language abilities of incoming ELLs. If you have any quesitons, let me know!

You are supposed to be an ESL teacher to administer the test. I have been giving it to kindergarteners for years. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes at the kindergarten level.

The Kindergarten LAB-R does not take a long time at all to administer. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes! It is very cut and dry.

but if im hired for the assignment, im assuming there would be children being evaluated all day/ongoing.
ETA: and its several different days.

Sorry to butt in here, but as a mom of a September '08 kindergartner  , I'm curious to know what these evals consist of.
My DS will be evaluated in May. Is it one on one? Are the parent(s) present? What exactly are "they" evaluating in just 15 minutes?

This test is only administered to children who speak languages other than English. It is used to determine the child's English level and if they will require ESL (English as a second language) services.

Thanks for your response. I obviously have this confused with the kindergarten "interview"? I do know that DS has will have this in May. I was just wondering what it entailed.
