How different is your realistic weight from your goal weight?

Right now I am 4lbs off from my realistic weight but 10lbs off from my ultimate goal. The problem is I think my real goal might be unreachable - or unrealistic.

I dont know why but that 6 lbs makes such a difference to me.

5 from realistic, 10 from ideal. but i think that maintaining that ideal weight would be way too much of a challenge.

I'm doing WW right now, but, I set my goal weight at 5 lbs above my ultimate goal weight...not sure why...I guess I too feel like it's unrealistic (even though that's how much I always weighed before I got married and had DD).

Well, according to WW, they want me to weight 150- which is like Chat Icon Chat Icon to me! I didn't even weigh that when I was in the best shape of my life playing college basketball!!

To me, 180 is more realistic- and that is about 60 more lbs to go!

There is a 5 pound difference between my goal weight and a realistic weight for my body. I am only 5'3" so 5 pounds is a lot.

my goal would be to lose 30 pounds (i lost 5 already)... but i think my realiztic weight would only allow me to lose about 15-20.

I'm not sure. I weigh 143 right now. I'd like to weigh 120 (I'm barely 5'2" so that would be appropriate for me). So what is my realistic weight? 130?

I got this from self magazine, it's a happy weight calculator. It's supposed to be the weight you can acheive and maintain with a decent amount of ease.

[From Self's February 2008 Issue]

1. Muliply your height in inches by itself, then by .031.

2. If you have a small frame, multiply this number by 0.95. If you have a large frame, multiply this number by 1.05. The number is unchanged if you have a medium frame. (see chart below to determine frame size).

3. Add 1 pound if parent or sibling is obese.

4. Add 2 pounds for each decade you are over age 20.

5. Add 5 pounds if you've and any children.

6. Subtract 1 pound if you exercise & weight train once a week. Subtract 2 pounds if you do it 3 times a week. Subtract 3 pounds for 5 or more times per week.

7. Add 4 pounds if you smoked at least a pack a day for a year or more and quit.

8. Add 1 pound if you allow yourself a treat now & then.

* If you are under 5'2", you have a small frame if your wrist is less than 5.5", medium frame if your wrist is 5.5"-5.75" or a large frame if it's greater than 5.75".

If you are 5'3" - 5'5", you have a small frame if your wrist is less than 6.0", medium frame if your wrist is 6.0" - 6.25" or a large frame if it's greater than 6.25".

If you are taller than 5'5", you have a small frame if your wrist is less than 6.25", medium frame if your wrist is 6.25"-6.5" or a large frame if it's greater than 6.5".

Re: How different is your realistic weight from your goal weight?

About 10-15 lbs. difference. - 135-140 is my 'best' weight and when I feel I look the best, but 145-150 is a more realistic goal and easier to maintain for me - in order to be at 135 I have to be in the gym every day .........Sooooooo, only 30 lbs to get to my 'attainable' goal of 150 -

Re: How different is your realistic weight from your goal weight?

according to that guide from "self" magazine, i should be 132. i was 159, have been dieting for 2 weeks and am now at 152.5... my goal was to get down to 130 but i don't know if my body will allow it because i am pretty muscular. i'm gonna try though!
