a new/different question about weight issues in a marriage
let's say, your so "lets him/her self go" (for whatever reason... legit or "laziness")
some time passes, and (s)he decides(again, for whatever reason) to get their act together. they start going to the gym, get a haircut, etc.
do you think there's another person?
do you think OTHERS think there's another person?

That would not be my first reaction. I am trying to get healthy now and I know I am doing this for myself and no one else.

i don't think that necessarily one of the reasons, but maybe he decided to do it for himself, so that he could feel better about himself.
Just giving him the benefit of the doubt thought, I would see if there are more hints that would make me believe otherwise.

No not necessarily. That would not be my first reaction at all. I would think they are doing it for themselves.

I dont think it would be fair to assume that there is another person. Sometimes all it takes is a reality check to realize that a person isnt healthy. Perhaps the idea of spouses and children being left alone without you can be enough. Im all for a good kick in the pants.

for me, there would have to be other things that point to there being "another person" as well. not just a new haircut or losing a little weight. i get tired of my look or get fed up with myself from time to time and try to lose some weight... i think the same can be expected with anyone.

I have heard that before...when someone all of a sudden starts caring about their appearance, get's a new hairstyle, new clothes and starts working out that there could be another person. I dont necessarily agree. I think sometimes people just wake up one day and want to feel better about themselves and for their own family.
