When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

When do you think Disney would be the least crowded? Maybe September when kids go back to school? Thinking of planning a trip there later this year and the time I can go is flexible so I would rather go when it is not as crowded. I think it would be a fun trip for DH and I. Chat Icon

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

i've heard that the end of august/beginning of september is a good time to go, right after all the kids go back to school.
we used to go the 2nd week in november every year and thats a great time to go, too. weather is still warm and not many crowds. i grew up in NJ and we had 2 days off that week every year for the state teachers convention so my parents liked that we only missed 3 days of school instead of a full week.
my aunt/uncle/cousins always went in january and said that was a great time, too....

I went once in the middle of January...it was empty. We hardly waited on line for anything. Literally walked right on to space mountain.

I've been to Disney more times than I can count. The best time is late Sept going into Oct. We've been there at that time and the weather was still warm to swim, but absolutely no lines. It was fantastic. I've also gone the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Very crowded. They also run alot of specials this time of year.

I agree with Stephanie about mid-late September. There's no special celebration (Halloween parties & Food & Wine Fest are in full swing in Oct), it's too early to take kids out of school for vacation, weather is divine.

Mid December & January are not too busy either.

September around 15th or so! It was perfect, no lines and barely crowded. We did this for a few years while I was in college and it always worked out.

We went Dec 10-17 and it was perfect. All decorated for the holidays and no lines because the kids were still in school.

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

my parents have gone three years in a row in november - never any lines - walking on rides, etc. they have gone either right before or after thanksgiving - i guess everyone is so busy with the holidays and school and everything else - they forget about disney.

i'd imagine it would be similar in september.

Mid-late September. Or pretty much anytime that is like 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after a school holiday.

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

I have been in January and Sept.

Both were fairly slow.

I think with Sept - it can be iffy weather (rain). I used to go every year in Sept and it always was rainy. People said it was the time of year.

Although I went in January - it was cool, we had to bring sweatshirts and stuff, just in case it was too cool

If you go in August, just be prepared for the humidity. We went last year and while we had a great time, the humidity was killer!

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

We've gone January twice and it's been awesome. My favorite time to go is Christmas time, as long as you avoid the holiday weeks, it's fine. We were there the week after Thanks giving and it was AWESOME

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

Anytime when kids are in school...We went at the end of August last year...yes there were less crowds however I found the service to be not as good as when we went in July for our HM. And also some of the rides were closed for servicing.

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

I have gone mid October and had a wonderful time. Weather during the day is still warm enough for a little tan but nights needed a jacket. Lines were close to nothing and with all of the Halloween decorations and celebrations going on it was one of my most favorite times to go Chat Icon

We went for 2 weeks prior to the millennium... The week leading up to Christmas was EMPTY. Literally walked onto the rides with no line. The following week, however was a nightmare and reminds me why I will never go back during a holiday week!

Re: When is the slowest time to go to Disney?

January-early February, May-early June, late August-mid October.

I would suggest going last week of September-first week of October. That's when the food and wine festival happens at Epcot and it's the best thing ever. I work there so I go alot, but we ALWAYS go during the times I mentioned because it's dead. I don't have the patience to wait on a line longer than 15 minutes. HTH
