Fondant - has anyone ever used it to decorate cookies?

Wilton makes a ready-to-use kind and i am wondering if i would be crazy to think i can do this. I love to bake and am generally pretty crafty so think it can be done but hoping it wont turn into a nightmare.

I'm not a huge fan of the taste of fondant. I have used it for cakes but I dont know about cookies. Since you're rolling out the fondant and then have to drape it over the cookie, I'd think the cookies would have to be on the large "fat" side. Also I'd be concerned with where you were going to put the ends...that would mean you have a right side of the cookie and a wrong side of the cookie. I perhaps could see fondant working in the case of maybe a rolled cookie log or somthing. Ok, now after I have thought it out I would say that fondant would not be my choice in decorating a cookieChat Icon

I think Fondant is just for cakes, you need to have the dimensions to drape the fondant over. I am not a fan of fondant, here in the UK fondant covered cakes are really popular and I hate them! THe fondant always seems to disguise really dry horrible fruitcake.

fondant can definitely be used for cupcakes- HOWEVER wilton's fondant is DISGUSTING!!! There are some good recipes online for fondant- and the homemade ones are usually much better tasting... HTH!

you can definitely use it for cookies, but I don't really care for the taste of it. You should try using royal icing instead.
