Re: Clearwater/St. Petersburg FL

We go there pretty much every year (it's basically my husband's fav place on earth Chat Icon). I usually prefer to stay at the Hilton, more for location than anything else. It's not the greatest of Hiltons though. There's also Shephards on the Beach, which is a lot of fun, they have a good beach bar and a night club, so if you want to party, it's a good spot to be in (it's also only a short walk from the Hilton). But if you get a room near the club, it can be quite loud. I prefer to stay at the Hilton and hang out at Shephards. Shephards is right on the water, but it's more on the bay, and there's not so much of a beach.

Clearwater is going through a major renovation right now. They are building a new boardwalk and restructuring the main strip. Looks like it will be awesome when it's done though.

Re: Clearwater/St. Petersburg FL

thanks for all your input...... do u think the renovations are gonna to hinder our vacation plans? we NEVER go away, i haven't flown since 2001 but i think i am ready now,, ,and we wanted to start w/ a short flight for me... so we chose clearwater. hopefully the renovations wont be too much, we really need to relax...
we are NOT going to party... the hilton looks really nice... do u know of any really UPSCALELY kind of resorts? i feel that since this isa WAY overdue trip i really really want to splurge!
the sandpearl looks nice but it seems to be all booked for the end of march.....

I'll ask my husband and get back to you—he knows the ins and outs of Clearwater and the surrounding really well.

We stay in St Petes Beach every year at the Tradewinds, its beachfront and its really nice. Its a bit businessy now, but if you look into St Petes Beach, there are a ton of hotels up and down the strip and down into Treasure Island. I love that area of Florida!
