Sandals Jamaica Question:

Which resort have you stayed in?

Which resort do you think is the nicest/best on Jamaica?

I'm making myself dizzy trying to choose - We have a tentative reservation at the Sandals Royal Caribbean which is in Montego Bay, Jamaica but we can switch it to any of them no problem - it's just a matter of choosing and I am having such a hard time...

Anyone have ANY other information, experiences, etc??

I just want to make the right decision...

FYI: we chose Jamaica over the other Sandals locations like St. Lucia, Bahamas and Antigua because the site was offering the best deal on the Jamaica properties, the airfare was the cheapest by far on the best airline and the only one with a non-stop flight.Chat Icon

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

Jamaica is always going to be cheaper. Tourism is it's major industry.

Having said that, we loved Royal Plantation. It's in Ocho Rios..it used to be part of Sandals but now I'm not sure.

Either way, it was 5 star..I would love to go back.

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

Based on reviews, I stayed away from the Jamaica resorts. Most of the signature guests I met at Sandals stated that they loved St Lucia much better than any of the other resorts for food, activities to do, scenery, and environment.

I don't know about Antigua since they are newly remodelled.

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

I just want to add that we stayed at St Lucia 2x..it was very nice but huge. I like a smaller resort.

I didn't like Antigua. I didn't like Royal Bahamian either.

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

I've been to Sandals Antigua, Sandals Ocho Rios Jamaica, Sandals Royal Bahemian (Bahamas) and Sandals St. Lucia.

As far as Jamaica, Ocho Rios was beautiful and I would recommend it. I've heard wonderful things about Sandals Dunns River as well but have never been to that one. Sandals Negril was just renovated and has a lot of nightlife so that one would probably be a lot of fun. That's the one we hope to hit next. As far as Montego Bay, that's where the main airport is but I don't have much information on that resort. FM me if you'd like additional info.

Good luck!

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

We stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios, for our HM it was nice and HOT!!! We also went in Aug, so that might have made it worse. The food was decent. we questioned just what kind of meat we were eating at times. But other then that it was great. I think St Lucia is MUCH nicer personally.

It was the Manor House in Jamaica.Chat Icon

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

We've only been to one Sandals - Sandals Whitehouse for our honeymoon (in Jamaica). It had just finished being built and it was beautiful! The food was great and we LOVED it there! Chat Icon

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

I've stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios, which was nice. We had dinner at Dunns River, and I liked it better over there, but wasn't there for long. It just seemed nicer. Dunns River also has golf (but we don't play).

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

We went to Antigua for our Honeymoon-they were in the process of renovating and I have heard that it is much nicer now. Although it was very nice, we got a little bored. There was no nightlife at all and the food was eh, ok. Also my DH got salmonella from breakfast there on our last day--luckily he wasn't REALLY sick (hospital) until we got home.

I think it will be a long while before we go there again-if ever. Chat Icon

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

We stayed at the Couples resorts in Jamaica based on better reviews. We went to Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away, both in Negril, and ranked #1 and #2 all inclusives in the Caribbean. Food was delicious and it included more than Sandals in terms of excursions, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, etc.

I think Montego Bay is one of the least beautiful spots in Jamaica. The water isn't as nice since it's the Bay, and it's a high traffic area since that's where the airport is.

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

Sandals Negril or Sandals Whitehouse would be my choices in Jamaica. I stayed at Dunns River but I wasn't crazy about the beach there.

Re: Sandals Jamaica Question:

We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay. We also visited Negril and Ocho Rios. All 3 were beautiful. Food was fine. We like Montego Bay best because it was close to the airport- 2 minutes. The others were 1-2 hours by buss if I remember right. Have fun...
