2 sacs nothing in them

I am a regular poster who may be a 2 under 2 mom if all goes well. I took a HPT test the other day and it was postive. I called my doctor and was seen yesterday because I have a history of m/c and was high risk for my first DC. My LMP was Feb. 4 (but I did have bleeding for 2 days Feb 19 also) so that should put me at 6 weeks. I am not a regular 28 day cycle so I do tend to ovulate late. When I went to the doctor he did a sono and saw 2 sacs but nothing in either of them. He said it could just be too early to see anything so he is going to monitor my HCG levels and I will go for another sono on Tuesday. He said there could be 0, 1 or 2 we will just have to wait and see. My question is... has this happened to anyone else? Did you see the sacs, nothing in them and then follow up and everything was ok?

Did he do an internal or external sonogram?

I had an external at 6 weeks 4 days and you could only see the sac. They did an internal and you could just see the little flickering heartbeat

It is probably early to see anything because everything is so small. Plus, like you said, if you ovulated late, it is probably too early. Kep thinking good thoughts!!!

I had an early sonogram at what I thought was about 5w3d - saw a sac, but not baby yet. Two week later the baby was there with a heartbeat.

Your late ovulation probably has something to do with it. Try to stay calm and go in for a follow up.

i am guessing that you had two late implanters your later O date and the fact that you are really only 5+ weeks (because you have longer cycles) make me think that you have a good chance of being on your way to either two or three under two. it's totally normal to not see anything other than a sac this early.

I was PG a few years ago and thought I was having a m/c. I went to the ER b/c I was bleeding a lot. I was between 5-6 weeks along. At the ER, they could only see one sac. A few days later, I went to my gyno and they saw 2 sacs- one smaller than the other- one with an embryo, the other without. My gyno said it was probably too early for the sono to show the little bean and that the second sac may have been a 'blood sac' or possibly a twin. Give it some more time... I am sure your late OVing has a lot to do with it!! Good luck!!

Yes, I went in and we just saw the sac at 6 weeks. He had me come in 2 weeks later and we saw the baby! I am sure everything is okay.

Yes you can look in my album. I had a sono at 5w3d I think and there was only a sac. I left the dr's office crying. Next time I went I saw the baby. Now 15 weeks! Don't worry yet.

I think it's fairly certain you will see them at about 6.5- 7 weeks or so. If you aren't 100% sure about when you ovulated, it's a good possibility that it's just too early.

When I was pregnant with my oldest son they saw only a gestational sac with no fetal pole or heartbeat. The doctor said the same thing to me... it may be too early. I was estimated to be about 5.5 weeks at the time. I went back at 8 weeks and there he was! He was born healthy and is now almost 7 years old. Don't worry too much... just relax and take care of yourself!

this happened with me when i had dd..i went for my appt they couldnt see anything but the sac, went a week later and there was the heartbeat..i had just come off the pill so when i actually conceived could have been the reason i was off. goodluck
