Any particular area of the city you are most interested in...Midtown, Downtown, Upper East or West sides?

Re: NYC people..help!!
1) a beautiful hotel - There are plenty of beautiful hotels, so pick one in a convenient location. Maybe Hotel on Rivington, W Union Square, Inn at Irving, or Ritz Carlton Battery Park.
2) a spa for couples massage - Spa Meridian is my local massage place. Nothing fancy, but good, inexpensive massages. Otherwise, maybe the spa at your hotel or bliss.
3) your favorite place to eat - There are so many! Del Friscos for steak (they have a great pre-theater menu), Sushi Samba 7 or Japonais, Otto for Italian tapas/pizza, Mara's Homemade for GREAT homemade BBQ (be prepared for 6 metal tables and the best food ever!), Essex House or Penelope for brunch.
4) a great show - Avenue Q!
5) something fun and touristy- I have never done the bus toour-thinking of that - I have been wanting to take a walking food tour on the LES!
Have fun!!

Re: NYC people..help!!
1. W hotel - We love it there!
The Marriot Marquis is over there in the same area, I have stayed at both and I prefer the W, but the Marriot is very nice too.
2. Shows- Spring Awakening, Mama Mia, Mary Poppins, Avenue Q (very funny), Off broadway - I love you, you're perfect now change, is fun! s
3. Restaurants- I love Sushi Samba-fun, loud atmosphere, good food too!
There are SOOO many good restaurants. What kind of food do you like?
A good area to walk but it can be touristy is Restaurant Row-I can't remember the exact street location, but it is right in the theater district- they have a bunch of great restaurants over there... BECCO is one of my favorites in that area.
Touristy- when we took some people from out of the country to NYC we did some bus tour that also turned into a boat tour. That was pretty fun!

Thompson Hotel is beautiful if you want to stay downtown in SOHO.
As far as a show, I highly recommend Young Frankenstein!

Re: NYC people..help!!
I recommend OTTO for lunch/dinner and I also recommend going to see WICKED
also--if you like Sex in the City --they have a bus tour that takes you to all the spots shown on the show

Re: NYC people..help!!
1) a beautiful hotel
the plaza just re-opened by the "fairmont" people - they have fabulous hotels all over the world and the location (right overlooking central park) as well as the ambience cannot be beat!!! it is absolutely stunning! also, the waldorf-astoria is, of course, classic and beautiful. i like the old school hotels like those when in NYC - even though i've heard nice things about the W b/c it is modern but i, personally, like the "old world" hotels a little more when in the city.
2) a spa for couples massage
i would check out the spa at the plaza - supposed to be one of the best in the world (or so i read in the newspaper). even if you don't stay there you can get treatments there.
3) your favorite place to eat
hands down, tavern on the green... great food, great place and a nice location in the park - also, just steps away from where you can take a horse drawn carriage ride after dinner!! another place we loved was "palm" - check out their site b/c they have more than one location in the city. amazing food! also, bobby van's is great and ruth's chris - if they have one in the city - go! great place!
4) a great show
when dh and i went we saw a comedy show b/c that was fun and they are always great in the city -- but, we also saw les mis which was amazing. i think they have closed since then which suucks but you could try any other b-way show. my sister loved jersey boys and supposedly men enjoy it too.
5) something fun and touristy- I have never done the bus tour-thinking of that
the double-decker bus tours are supposed to be great but one of my fave things was the wax museum!! it's fun and very entertaining. also, check out the sex and the city tour - it is supposed to be great. and, by far, one of our fave "tours" was the circle line boat tour that goes around the entire island of manhattan!!! it is absolutely beautiful.
HTH!
