Follies....

How many follies is a normal count? The Dr. saw 4 on the right and 3 or 4 on the left - one was really big so I guess that was the one about to release the egg.

I am assuming this is really low..... no?

Re: Follies....

I recently asked a similar question on this board. I'm not sure of the answer. I do know that only the large ones release eggs though, so you're right in thinking that the one large one is likely the one to release an egg. When I had my U/S when on Clomid, I had the same number of follies as you and they said I was an excellent responder, so I'm assuming our numbers are good. I wish they'd explain more.

Re: Follies....

Did they give you the size of your follies? What CD day are you? Anything over 18mm is considered mature. The biggest follie isn't always the one that bursts and releases the egg.

Are you thinking of doing a trigger shot sometime in the future?

Re: Follies....

Actually Kara, when I got PG with my IUI I only had ONE follie on the right (18mm) and a smaller one on the left, and that was being on Clomid too! So I dont think its necessarily a bad thing.

Re: Follies....

This was my very first visit -- we are going back on the 22nd for the IVF information session so I guess I will know more after that. When the Dr. saw the BIG follie he said, Yup, there's your baby, waiting to go! So I guess it was big enough to think it would be releasing an egg. It was CD 10 and I O'd on CD 12..... Chat Icon

Now that I have the clear blue monitor I actullay know BEFORE I O -- it's amazing!

PS ANd BD'd on CD 10, 11, 12 and 13!!! Chat Icon

Re: Follies....

i have been on clomid for 3 cycles and i usually produce the same as you - 3 or 4 on each side - but only 1 has been mature enough to release.
except for last month, i had 2.

it sounds like everything is great for you this cycle. i hope you get your bfp!!!

Re: Follies....

The month I got pregnant, I had 1 on the left (about 20 mm right before ovulation) and 1 on the right (about 15mm). I would say you are doing great!
