Wanted to share a great idea...
My friend recently got invited to a baby shower, and the expectant mom requested that instead of bringing cards, the guests bring a baby/child book instead and write their own personal inscription. I absolutely LOVE this idea and plan on stealing it 100%! I think it is a fantastic way to grow a library for baby early, plus books will not go by the wayside as cards often do.

We're doing it at mine too...instead of a traditional wishing well. I "stole" the idea from a friend who did it a few years ago

She made me make an amazon baby registry of books because she didnt want me getting 20 copies of the same book

My sister did that for my baby shower. Although she had that instead of a wishing well.

i did it for mine (my sister was really busy, so i did my own invites  ) inside the envelope i put a card taht said:
We all know how much Laura likes to read. She hopes the baby will follow her lead. So lets start a library with all the books the new baby will need. Please bring a favorite story or fairtale that you would like baby ___ to have in her collection.

We did this at my sister's shower and it was so great that she did it for mine. We got so many books with sweet notes to the baby written in them. I am so glad we did it!
