When you go away, Do you let the police know?
We live in a village and I am thinking of telling them we will be away. Has anyone else done this or am I crazy?

Yup. I do this. I put my house on vacation watch. (even though I have an alarm). I can do it online and they (sheriff's office) pick up my newspapers and drive past my house to make sure nothing looks weird.

Ditto. We have an alarm on the house. I let my neighbors know and stop my mail. My neighbors pick up the pennysaver.
I never heard of the police watch.

I never heard of this either. We let our neighbors know we are going plus family lives close, so they come by during the course we are away to check. We stop all mail & newspapers...

No. We stop the mail and tell the neighbors to keep a lookout.

My parents ALWAYS did that when we went away, but we also lived in a secluded neighborhood, so they just wanted to have someone keep an eye out. I don't do it when I go away because I live in a very populated area and my sister lives next door.
