Ladies...I need your expertise..I know that pregnant women aren't supposed to have brie....but what if it's cooked?
My sister is pregnant, and we're having a little party for my Mom's birthday. My Mother loves these appetizers I get from BJ's, they're brie and rasberry sauce wrapped in filo-they're baked in the oven.
Is my sister allowed to have them, or is it better not to?
TIA!

As long as the cheese is pasteurized (check the box) it is fine.

Ditto.
Also, if it wasn't pasteurized, I know that for me I'd probably eat it anyway. 1 time won't kill me.

if they're very hot, they're fine either way.... listeria is killed at high temps.
I don't know if I would trust a gently heated baked brie, though.....

no, these things go in at 425 for 15 minutes...it's actually mostly filo, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to put something out there that she wasn't allowed to have...Thanks for all your help!!!

it's totally fine for her to have. you can also buy pasteurized brie in most supermarkets. just check and make sure it says made with pasteurized milk. then it won't matter!

as long as it is pasterized you don't have to cook it... more chance of listera from an uncooked hot dog

Just about all brie is made from pasturized milk. I would only be wary of imported brie and locally made/artisan brie. Most commerically sold brie is fine, even if uncooked.

foodie here... I should add something I learned the hard way...
The phillo preserves brie thing only works with cheap (aka pasteurized domestic) brie.
It would taste way too gamey if it was unpasteurized (I made that once... yikes )
so, I can pretty much garantee that is pasteurized brie...... the ingredient list should confirm it...
