I just want to teach....
Grrr
I know it is the week before a vacation, but this is not special behavior, it is typical.
I can no get through a lesson with my students. They do not listen, they are so rude, and they just do whatever they want.
I hope I am in a better school next year.
Vent over. Thanks for "listening".

i hear ya!! i'm a speech teacher, so i only have like 3 kids at a time, and i STILL can't manage to teach a lesson!!
they think because i'm taking them out of their regular class that its "game time" and its a "break"... so when i actually try to make them do some work and teach a lesson, they complain the whole time or just act out and we can't get throught it!  its unbeleiveable how these kids act and how they are so disrespectful!

I am completely in the same boat. It's so frustrating. Seriously, sometimes I feel like, why should I bother. Just like you, my students don't let me teach either... just sit there and talk talk talk... don't care about getting their work done. It's like a constant stream of "Sit down" "where's your book?" "I need you to be quiet"... do they care? For 2 seconds, then they're back to talking again. Grades mean nothing to them, then they complain when they fail. I might as well sit down & read the newspaper for all they pay attention to me anyway.

I know what you mean...with all the focus on these damn state tests my kids have been feeling like the year is over since the Math test was over. They know that in NYC thats all that matters.....so many have given up even trying to pass my classroom tests

I agree! I would expect some of these behaviors in June but we have 2 more months! My team wants to start a countdown so bad but we think it's too early. I feel like I need a countdown for the countdown!
