Re: Napa
we went this past oct and went to san fran first then drove to napa.
what would u like to know?? Which hotel are u staying at in napa?
definitely recommend the restaurant Celadon for dinner. DELICIOUS.. you can bring your wine there to drink and pay a small 'corking fee'
I am trying to remember the tour we took- we loved it.. i highly recommend it!

thanks I did and got info overload.
? though..thinking about 2 nights in SF, 2-3 nights in napa and 2-3 in Sonoma..it's really our 10th anniversary trip and then we are going off to Big Sur for a wedding for two nights.
I love the 1801 First and some others. That Inn is $$$!
I want to go to:
Cakebread Sequoia Grove (one of our fav wines) Sawyer Plump Jack to name a few..
I want to do touristy things in SF and stay in Union Square or Knob Hill...
Is that a good amount to stay or is it overkill on the wineries. I also want to check out Sausalito..

Re: Napa
We stayed at the Vino Bello resort and Spa In napa in the Cabernet building.
It is brand new and i Highly recommend it..
We had a one bedroom 'condo' with a living room, eat in kitchen jacuzzi and separate bathroom with a shower.
we also had 2 balconies with tables and chairs.
There is an outdoor pool and there is an underground winery where we did a wine tasting.
The best part was the spa.. We each had treatments and the experience alone was amazing!!!
Look it up, you will not be disappointed!

Re: Napa
We went to Sonoma and San Fran and had the BEST time. We went to Napa for an afternoon and was surprised at how industrial it was as opposed to Sonoma.
We stayed at the Fairmont Mission in Sonoma - gorgeous hotel.
Some of our favorite wineries to visit in Sonoma were: BenZinger, Gundloch-Bundshue (sp), Imagery, Bartholemew (sp?). Benzinger is a completely cerified organic winery. There are a ton of different wineries in Sonoma and we had a bunch of bottles and oilve oil shipped home.
We ate at the General's Daughter, which I thought was amazing. We really didn't have a bad meal while we were there.
In SF we stayed at the Fisherman's Wharf Marriott I think. It was walking distance from everything and we didn't need a car at all.

great!!! have fun! are you going to stay in San Fran at all?
we are going to san fran for a day to do alcatraz and i HAVE to go to ghiradelli square because i am obsessed with their chocolate. dh and i have been to san fran already so we are only spending a day there and the rest at the wineries. we are also going with friends who have been to san fran before and they are huge into wine as well, so we are ok with almost a week of tasting.
we are also doing a hot air balloon ride and probably a trip to the coast and to see the redwoods....

I think your itinerary sounds great, although i havent been to those wineries.. We didnt have time to go to Sonoma. We did an overnight in San Fran. the day we arrived in San Fran we did the alcatraz tour. make sure to buy your tickets in advance because they sell out. We did the tourist thing at the pier at night and ate dinner there. we had a ball.. next day we drove to napa and checked into our hotel and relaxed.. we ended up checking out a few wineries that day and went food shopping.. we had dinner in the room that night.. we were too tired to go out with the time change.. next day we drove and did 10 wineries- we did all the big names mondavi, beringer, bv, etc, because we knew the wine tour would not do them. i would NOT recommend driving to the wineries, you get drunk pretty fast. we ended up staying at one and eating as much as we could before we started driving again. we went to celadon that night for dinner. next day we did the napa valley wine tour and got DRUNK!!! We were supposed to have dinner with people we met on the tour and neither one of us woke in time for dinner. we ended up waking up and going for a wine tasting in the winery at the resort. Next day we had the spa and then we came home!
I will find my list of wineries and fm you!

I am back from Sonoma and wanted to let you know how my trip went. It was WONDERFUL!!! You are going to have the best time.
We stayed at the Worldmark Windsor which is a time share resort, we went with friends and had a two bedroom condo, with two bathrooms, full kitchen, laundry, living room, fireplace and balcony. It was awesome!
We hit a ton of wineries and the favorites were:
Hartford Ridge Preston (organic) Frog's Leap (organic) Bella (wine tasting in caves, it was great) Mumm's Napa (for champagne lovers)
We also had dinner at Bouchon in Napa, it was OUTSTANDING. I highly recommend it.
We went on a hot air ballon, with Up and Away and really enjoyed it.
We also spent a day in San Fransisco. We went to Alcatraz, which was really interesting and then just did touristy things like Fisherman's Wharf, Twin Peaks, Palace of Fine Arts and Ghirardelli.
Northern California is so beautiful, we had an amazing time. I hope you do too!!
HTH!!!!
