NYC teachers-vision plan questions
I have not used my insurance for glasses or contacts since teaching. What do I do?

Call the uft welfare fund... they'll send you a voucher & a booklet with the eye centers that accept the plan. Then just make your apt & go. I FINALLY went in the fall after years of procrastinating lol.

What is the approximate out of pocket expense for an exam and contacts? I'm tryiing to just get an idea b/c I want contacts but don't want to foot $300, if you know what I mean.

the exam costs NOTHING and the last time i used it when i worked in NYC, about 4 years ago, they covered $150.00 worth of contacts or glasses. i would use it towards glasses and then do your contacts somewhere cheap like 1-800-contacts or Costco.

ladies, i just called to make an appointment for me and DH. Doctor said i needed a voucher form from the UFt to bring with me to the appointment.
Call the welfare fund and request the form. 212-539-0500
