M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
Does one thing have to do with another? I heard that if you have M/S it's a good sign. Well...someone said to me, since I have m/s my baby will be sickly. huh!?
Did anyone ever hear of that? It now gives me another thing to worry about.

Re: M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
I heard its good to have MS because it means everything is going right with the pregnancy and baby.
Some of my friends had no MS and have very healthy babies.....
MS doesn't make the baby sickly like that person told you, thats false!

That is just ridiculous!
M/S is caused by the increase of hormones in your system. Some people's bodies can handle it, while others (like myself) cannot. Couple that with prenatal pills, blech! lol

Re: M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
i am sorry but that is the most ridiculous thing i ever heard!!!
some doctors believe that if you have m/s, it means that the pregnancy is more likely to "stick" because of the abundance of preggo hormones causing the m/s - more hormones = more m/s, which also = less of a chance of miscarriage.
but i had no m/s - only a tiny bit of nausea - and my is just fine so far!!

Re: M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
I don't think one thing has anything to do with the other. My mother said she never had morning sickness - she had 7 very healthy babies.
Actually none of my siblings have had morning sickness either, so maybe it's a genetic predisposition?

My doctor said its good to have morning sickness. However, there are many people who don't have any m/s and have perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies

Exactly.
Honestly I wanted to punch anyone who told me that it was good that I was throwing up all day - meant the baby was healthy. No, it meant that my body couldn't handle the hormones. There are plenty of women who give birth to healthy babies who never got sick a day in their pregnancy. Seriously, so much diarrhea of the mouth going around when a pregnant woman is involved.

ITA-its all how your body reacts to the hormones. My hormones have been pretty high and I've had some nausea but no throwing up. My sister had a perfect pregnancy and was never sick

I think it's just an old wives tale, probably stemming from the sicker you are, the higher your hcg levels probably are. But there is a wide range of normals in hcg levels in pg, so I don't think you have much to worry about.

Re: M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
having m/s is only 'good' from one perspective.... it's proof that you have a lot of hormones coursing through you..... which suggests you're not on an immediate risk of a miscarriage (when hormones tend to decline).
but on the flip side, it's an unenviable experience, and to NOT have m/s just means your body can adapt to the hormones... it doesn't mean they're not there or you have increased miscarriage risk....
I'm happy to report that I personally never had m/s..... just wicked food/smell aversions.... all is well as of 18 weeks

Re: M/S and the health of your baby!!!!
I don't think that they are related at all.
I think it's how the person's body is reacting to the changes in their body.
With pregnancy #1 started having severe M/S and miscarried that day
Pregnancy #2 Mild m/s 2-3 hours a day- never vomitted, mild nausea, lasted about 3 weeks-- resulted in a 8lb 13oz little girl
Pregnancy #3 Mild m/s 3-4 hours a day, never vomited, little more than mild nausea. lasted about 4-5 weeks. I am having a baby in a week in a half that thiey are predicting will be over 9lbs.

That is ridiculous! I have realized that some people say idiotic things and just to ignore them! M/s is caused by the increase of hormones.
