RSofNY
Why do I feel like if I don't know when I should be coming in/what the next course of action is, etc. they won't tell me.
I spoke to Dr. Saketos today and she told me last month the nurses should have told me to come back for a progesterone test...also last month was only my 2nd cycle there and they told me to come in on cd3 for u/s, b/w so I thought that was common protocol and when I went in I asked them why on day 3 yadayada b/c I'm not on any drugs...and they said oh sorry your not? there's no reason then for you to come in today.....
I go to the dr. for them to tell me what I should be doing and rely on them to know my info....this is ridiculous.
I wish I could switch to a good one in the city but I can't.....I really haven't had the best experience at RSofNY... I guess I just have to ask 57658768765 questions and be on top of my own progress each month...
sorry just got home and had to vent.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have found that it seems to be more like an assembly line there. A few of the other women use a different RE and have been happy with them. Diane and Karacg use Dr. Kreiner (?) and have been happy.

Re: RSofNY
Yes, I'm on my second cycle there as well. I didn't "O" my first time on 50 mg of Clomid. From all of the bad reviews as of yet I've decided I'll be going for X amount of cycles and if I'm not pregnant by then I'm off.
I went because my doctor was highly recommended by a very prestigious NYC OB/GYN

Re: RSofNY
Yes, I liked Dr. Kreiner - East Coast Fertility - a lot. But I have only had 1 visit so far. But in no way did I feel like just a number, or like I was on an assmbly line. Dr. Kreiner was patient and listed to me, then explained everything to me. Next I have an IVF information session, where they will take blood from DH and me, and go through every step of the process.....It is an hour and a half one-on-one with an IVF counselor.

I am sorry you are having a bad experience with them. I went to their Stong Brook office and usually saw Dr San Roman and Dr Stelling. I never had to ask what the next step was. Before I had to ask the question, they were giving me my options. I was successful on my 3rd IUI and now have a beautiful 3 month daughter.
Sending you and BABY DUST!!!!

Re: RSofNY
I felt like they have absolutely no individual attention there..could be just the Mineola office, most likely a prime location for a lot of couples, however, they seem to just take as many patients as they can fit it.
Don't get me wrong I really like Dr. Saketos I just feel like I've only seen her twice and have to rely on nurses who want to rush you in and out and who really can't keep track of hundreds of patients on a daily basis.
Can someone give me more info on Dr. Kreiner. After this month I may switch. thanks

Re: RSofNY
I'm sorry you have to feel this way - I was a patient of Dr Sekatos and felt the exact same way.
I pulled my records and am now going to a different Dr (NSUH). I found Dr S to be impossible to get an answer from. ADditionally she never did an HSG on me nor did she do a progesterone test. With my new dr I already have the perscriptions for both htese tests after my second visit
I feel RSNY goes through the steps getting to IVF without really explaining why

Re: RSofNY
I know I am leaving that practice....
The last time I was there was on cd3. I gave my blood , did the sono etc. I met with the head doctor for the first time. Dh was with me.
We were told we don't have a difficult case, that it's really nature...and that unfortunately we aren't rabbits. Now all this was said to us in a very kind and appeasing manner. However, I found it to be patronizing. I asked, about different things that are out there, and I was told that they don't have significant evidence to show they work. HUH ? What that meant to me, was, they aren't willing to do anything out of these set protocols that they give every single person who goes there. I had three IUIs and this doctor basically indicated that I should have three more....that it's just a roulette game.

WHAT? OMG, Michelle. I think I may switch sooner than later. Yes, I too was told that they don't even look at charts and don't consider it a reliable method of detecting ovulation? Ummmm, hello?

Re: RSofNY
Not to quote the pp, but I brought my charts to RSNY on my first visit as well as a diary of symptoms. Although the dr took them, she didn't encourage me to continue monitoring and told me that they weren't useful. Unfortunatley I listened to her and a year later I switched dr's. The first thing my new dr did was give me a blank chart to start temping

Re: RSofNY
Wow that stinks.... I have to say, Dr. Kreiner was the first Dr. to actually look at my temps and comment on them. He said that they don't tell much but they are useful. I think they are so useful myself -- I don't get any symptoms at all when I get AF, so now I know exactly when it is coming. I have found the Clear Blue Monitor much more helpful in determining ovulation, though.
I am so turned off by what I hear about RSofNY....

Re: RSofNY
I know from my experience with RSofNY that I went every month on cd3 for blood work (regardless of if I was one meds or not). I also went several times per month for internal sonos to see how my follies were growing and to determine when I would ovulate.
They have a pretty set schedule for everyone from what I read here. Luckilly, it worked for me.
If you dont feel comfortable I would speak to your doctor directly...or switch REs, but I don't really have any complaints about RSofNY and I got PG with them on my 2nd IUI / 1st cycle of Clomid.
Just a side note: I worked with Dr. Bray, she explained everything in detail to me and was very helpful!
Baby dust to you!

Same here , but I got PG with my first IUI with them. I had seen other RE's in Suffolk but liked Dr. San Roman the best by far. Other RE's left it up to me to use OPK's while RSofNY had me there almost every day to monitor me. After 6 miscarriages over threes years I guess I am partial to that practice

Re: RSofNY
Maybe its not the practice thats my problem then, maybe its the Dr. Maybe I will switch to San Roman before switching practices. I know now I myself have to be more pro-active with my cycles, otherwise I'll get lost somewhere in RSofNY's 100's of patients.

Re: RSofNY
I don't know what good it would do to switch doctors within the same practice. From my experience there, I've seen my own doctor once. I see every other doctor 100 times. What really makes someone 'your' doctor there - bc they do the consultation with you?

Re: RSofNY
This is true...even my IUI was performed by another Dr. I'm just not sure what to do...the practice is pretty close and I don't think Dr. Kreiner (East Coast) takes my insurance.
I think I'm going to finish out this cycle and see what happens. If I'm not happy with the way things go I'm going to have to leave and go elsewhere. I should be comfortable and happy with my RE not stressed out.
Thanks ladies.

Re: RSofNY
HELLO LADIES, FIRST LET ME SAY THAT I AM A PATIENT AT RS OF NY AND HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. DR. SAKETOS IS MY PRIMARY PHYSICIAN THERE AND IS A WONDERFUL CARING COMPASSIONATE DR. WHEN I WAS HOSPITALIZED IN SEPTEMBER SHE WAS THERE EVERYDAY AND CALLED ME FROM HOME TO CHECK ON ME. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE THE DR. THEY SEE AND IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO LEAVE IF IT IS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU. YOU DO NOT HOWEVER HAVE THE RIGHT TO SLANDER A PRACTICE THAT HAS PRODUCED THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN 4 OF WHICH ARE PERSONAL FRIENDS OF OURS. ANY DR'S OFFICE YOU GO TO IS BUSY AND STRESSFUL, ESPECIALLY AN INFERTILITY CLINIC WHERE THE HORMONE LEVELS ARE THROUGH THE ROOF. MAYBE YOU NEEDIER WOMEN SHOULD THINK ABOUT ALL THE PATIENTS THAT WALK THROUGH THAT DOOR EVERYDAY AND ALL THE TESTS AND PAPERWORK THAT IS AROUND AND IF A MISTAKE IS MADE, WE YELL BUT WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE HUMAN JUST LIKE US AND IT HAPPENS. DID YOU EVER THINK THAT MAYBE IT IS HARD ON THESE DR'S AND NURSES TOO. SPENDING TIME WITH US AND SEEING US CRY, I KNOW I HAVE MADE ALOT OF NURSES CRY THERE AND I HAVE BEEN TREATED AS IF I WAS THEIR FAMILY. SO FOR ALL OF YOU READING THIS, A FEW BAD MOUTHS AND A FEW BAD EXPERIENCES DOSEN'T MAKE IT A BAD CLINIC , IT JUST MEANS IT WASN'T THE CLINIC FOR THAT PERSON'S NEEDS. I WOULD RECOMMEND DR. SAN ROMAN'S PRACTICE TO ANYONE GOING THROUGH THIS AWFUL EXPERIENCE. AND FOR THE AUTHORS OF THE BAD MOUTHING OF RS OF NY, EDUCATE YOURSELF WITH THE TERM DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER.. MEANING IS AS FOLLOWS: defamation of character), which is the tort or delict of making a false statement of fact that injures someone's reputation. BEFORE YOU ATTACK SOMEONE FOR WHAT YOU FEEL IS YOUR OPINION, REMEMBER THAT YOU COULD WIND UP IN YOUR VERY OWN LAWSUIT. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY LADIES AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT RS OF NY I WOULD BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY YOU HAVE. IF IT WASN'T FOR THEM I WOULDN'T HAVE THE CHANCE I DO FOR MY DREAM BECOMING A REALITY. GOD BLESS..... LISA

Re: RSofNY

No I do not work there. I am a real live patient. I happen to be talking to a girl in the office and she told me about this website. They have been nothing but nice and I think you are all giving the wrong impression. Good luck....

Re: RSofNY
Leelee... I'm so happy you are having a wonderful experience at RS of NY. Most of my experiences there have been good and some not so good. I do have a problem with any doctors office that overbooks so much that the patients are standing around waiting for over an hour and 1/2. Dr. Cain, who did both my IUIs and meetings, continues to introduce herself to me as if we never met. That doesn't take away from her medical skills but does show a lack of bedside manner.
Please don't use this board to bash women and minimize their feelings and experiences. What we are all going through is hard enough without having "strangers" add more judgement. We welcome you and look forward to your presence, but only if you are here to add something.
