Any school psychologists here?
I'm thinking about going back to school. I have a BS in Psych and want to continue to get a masters in school psychology and was jsut wondering where you may have gone to school, how hard was it to get a job and what the salary range is.
TIA!

Re: Any school psychologists here?
I know 3 people who went through this program. The program was quick and easy... except for the internship which was a pain.
They all have jobs now and obtained them quite easily as they said guidance counselors are being replaced by school psychologists in their districts.
I think they make in the 60's - 70's but they are just starting out.

Re: Any school psychologists here?
I got my MS Ed. at Fordham and I know they have a great school psychology program (it is at the Manhattan campus(near Lincoln Center) not the Bronx campus.
Also, cross post on teachers....there are a lot of school related folks on that board

Re: Any school psychologists here?
FH is a school psychologist but he got is Doctorate.
He went to Hofstra for all 8 years 4 years BA 2 MS 2 Psyd
Hofstra has a very good program and they are trying to get APA accrediation. However, they are becoming very selective. When Fh got accepted to the progrrsm he was 1 of 14 accepted and onle 1 of 2 already from hofstra.
As the years have passed they have started to accepted fewer. Last i heard it was down to 9.. but it could be less or more now for all i know.
Fh got a job right away in the school that he interned in. Hofstra set them up with these internships. Most of the people he graduated with all got jobs right away.
I believe JUST for his masters he interned on cmapus doing testing and counseling and also in a school for his doctorate he interned in a school and in a hospital and drug and alcohol clinic
But as you prob know you dont need a doctorate to work as a psych in a school. But your salary will be less
Im not sure what school the poster above was talking about making 60-70 but that sounds like more of a person with a doctorate to start... not with an MS.. but hey you never know
HTH
