business travel
Are any of you ladies flying for your job? I’ve read that it is safe to travel up to the early 30s weeks but I didn’t know if that meant the occasional trip. All of the sudden at work there are a bunch of trips that I’ve been asked to go on. I’m not a good flyer---nervous nelly—and not to mention the meetings are a bit stressful. I’m 25 weeks. I’m not comfortable with it and neither is my husband. I was going to tell my team that I can’t be traveling like this but I just wanted to see from all of you ladies, do you think that I’m sounding like a drama queen or is it reasonable to say no?

Re: business travel
I feel the same way you do I was asked to go into Manhattan 2 days this week I said yes, but I just had a really bad weekend Im 30 weeks and had BH all weekend. Plus, I have a bad leg.hip injury from years ago (I have had 3 reconstructive surgeries) and my swelling is a little out of hand. I asked them this morning if they could get someone else to go. Problem is, the other paralegals are all pregnant too! (1 is 36 weeks and the other is 24 weeks) DH is adamate about me not trying to get through Penn Station with my pregnant belly. He doesnt want me to get bumped etc. It is NOT unreasonable at all to say no. You need to take care of yourself and the baby. I would be afraid to fly and to be away from my doctor. I know there are doctors everywhere, but I feel better dealing with mine.

Re: business travel
I was willing to travel up until the 3rd trimester. Lucky for me, no trips came up until the thrid trimester I went on vacation at 25 weeks and it was not bad. Would you be travelling alone? Going alone to a foreign country would scare me a little bit, but if you are going with a coworker or staying within the US you should be fine. Do whatever you are comfortable with

Re: business travel
I was willing to travel until 32 weeks and luckily all the biz travel happened in my 1st and 2nd trimester. If you're not comfortable then don't do it.

Re: business travel
I would not travel if you and your DH are not comfortable with it. I will no be traveling after 24 weeks or so. I travel about 3-4 times per year with my job. It took me a long time to have a healthy pregnancy and there is NO way I would let me job get in the way of that..even though I love it.

Re: business travel
I travel frequently for work. I'm currently almost 32 weeks and I have 2 more trips planned. The last will be during my 34th week. My Dr said I'm okay to travel until 34 weeks.
I'll be honest, the traveling is tiring, but I feel safe. Sometimes I'm more tired/stressed out by commuting into NYC.
You have to do what makes you comfortable. Your job will understand.

Re: business travel
I traveled every single week of my pregnancy till week 32 and I enjoyed every second of it - but I enjoy flying and I had no problems or concerns. Just drank a lot of water, wore comfortable shoes and flip-flops (even in the winter), walked around on the plan if it was a long flight, and brought my own snacks so that I wouldn't have to eat the salty ones they give you on the plane. But if you feel uneasy, don't do it.

Re: business travel
My main offices are out in California, and they like us to go out there once ever few months. Granted I haven't told work yet that I am pregnant, but don't want to fly for that long, and be away for a week at a time to be honest.....so I think once I do tell them I am pregnant, I may also tell them I don't plan on flying across the country anymore...I don't mind the occassional 2 hour flight, but not a 6 hour flight, I just won't do it....

Re: business travel
You are not being a drama queen, I had 2 business trips planned for the year and I canceled them once I found out I was expecting. My manager had no problem with it at all, and actually said to me she didn't expect me to want to fly on these trips.
Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Re: business travel
I travel a ton for work. I fly everywhere - FL, CA, TX, etc. I was away at least 2 weeks/month until I hit 32 weeks (which is when my OB made me stop). The last 3-4 weeks my back starting hurting and I had to get up and walk every 45 minutes or so.
