HELP! How do I get jalapeno off my hands?

I was cooking with jalapeno peppers on Friday night and was taking out the ribs and seeds and got some on my hands.

I've scrubbed and scrubbed them! I poured lemon juice on and tomato sauce (DH's suggestion) and I still can't get the spice off my hands!

Since Friday, I've had burning eyes and burning nose... gosh, I'm scared to touch DH because he'll be burning too! HELP!

It's lessened a bit, but unfortunately I'm a nail-biter so I'm still getting the occasional spice when I bite my nails.Chat Icon

Any suggestions?

yeah, I've been there.. with a thai pepper Chat Icon

Believe it or not, but I work with compounds like capsaicin in the lab... it's related to my research. Capsaicin is super greasy. the best way to remove something greasy that is stuck on your skin is by rubbing oil on your hands.... maybe even scrub them with a veggie brush, and then wash with dish liquid. repeat a couple times.

Acid (lemon, tomato) will do nothing, and milk is just a milder version of fat.
