Anyone take Folgard?
I'm still TTC, and am getting ready to do IVF in the next 2 months. My dr is prescribing me Folgard. I'm not positive on why yet- but something about one of my blood levels (even though it's w/in normal range). The nurse said something about clotting causing miscarriage- but I need to get more info. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!

Re: Anyone take Folgard?
I am currently 34 weeks pregnant after trying for 3 years & doing IUI"s & 3 IVF's. I actually was in the beginning of my 4th & final IVF when I was waiting to get my period to start my injectables but it never came. I somehow managed to conceive naturally. The only thing I had done different was I started taking Folgard the month prior. Now I'm sure it was just a coincidence but I though it might give you some hope. I had done in depth infertility testing w/ SIRM & I tested positive for one copy of the MTHFR mutation. It has something to do w/ the way your body processes folic acid & you need a lot more then the average person. It has been linked to infertility & misscarriage. I am not sure what test you had or your doctors reason for prescribing it but I am sure that it can't hurt & can possibly help. It is simply folic acid & vitamins B6 & B12. You still need to take your prenatal vitamin as well & you will also continue taking the folgard throughout your entire pregnancy. Feel free to fm me w/ any other questions I might be able to help you w/. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you so much! This was only my 2nd appointment w/ this dr. and the bloodwork he's basing it off of is a year and a half old so I'm just surprised he's not sending me for updated labs I'm going to make another appointment (even though they told me I can just deal w/ a nurse) to speak with him directly about it. Thanks again! I was nervous b/c I didn't know what it was.
