Vegas Hotels- Tropicana and Sahara

Looking for reviews on these hotels from anyone that has stayed there... trying to do Vegas on a budget and these seem to be rated 3 stars and have really cheap prices. Are they gross? TIA!

Re: Vegas Hotels- Tropicana and Sahara

I am ALL about cheap Vegas hotels Chat Icon We stayed at Sahara in 2005 and didn't mind it at all. As recommended on tripadvisor.com, we asked for the Tangier tower which was the last one renovated and the "nicest". It was clean but kind of Motel 6. We stayed at Sahara again in 2006 and again in that tower and the room didn't seem as nice. It really aged in that year.

The first time we stayed at Sahara the huge distance between it and the rest of the strip didn't bother us much because the monorail was new and cheap. Now it's like $5 a ride, so the Sahara is even less attractive.

Tropicana is definitely in a better spot, but I can't vouch for the rooms.

Stayed at Hooters last year for like $50 a night and it wasn't that bad. It's right behind Tropicana. Relatively clean but could use a major facelift.

Looking at Imperial Palace for this year. We spend so little time in our rooms, and go on so many vacations, I can't justify staying at the nicer places in Vegas.

I have friends that stayed at the imperial palace two times and just last year the tropicana. we saw their rooms. They were just plain and simple, but clean. I would go with either of those two.Tropicana had a fun pool/pool area too!

My sister just got back from staying at the Tropicana. Said everything was clean, but nothing fancy or extravagant. Just a basic room, but she liked it enough
