for those who make steak in a broiler

do you always use some type of non-stick spray?

I plan on lining the pan with aluminum foil & I was going to very lightly spray the foil with non-stick spray. Is this ok?

I use spray when I cook mine.

You don't want to lay the meat on the foil because it will be sitting in its own grease. Put it on some type of broiler pan with holes in it so the juices fall below it.

I put the steak on a rack in a broiling pan but I don't use cooking spray. I never felt I needed to - the steak doesn't stick to the rack or anything.

I put foil below the top broiler rack adn spray the rack with cooking spray only because it makes it easier to clean afterwards.

I learned this the hard way. I didn't have a proper broiling pan to cook the steak on last night & it did sit in it's own grease. I am going to go get something this weekend for future use.

Well worth the investment. Like a PP said, line the bottom pan with foil. It doesn't even get dirty. All you have to do is wash the top part. Makes it so easy.

I line the top broiler pan with foil and cut holes where the slots are so that the grease/marinade falls through to the bottom pan. Delicious!

Then I sometimes use the drippings and mix them with some beef stock for a nice au jus.
