Can you freeze blueberries?

If so, how do you do it?

Do they thaw well, or are they mushy afterwards?

Thanks!

Re: Can you freeze blueberries?

absolutely. it's recommended that you freeze no more than 2 cups in one container/bag and you may want to do it on a cookie sheet first, then transfer.

DO NOT WASH until ready to eat/use, even when they are fresh

The only thing is they just don't taste the same...they are PERFECT for cooking with though.

Re: Can you freeze blueberries?

definitely!!! i grew up in south jersey near a lot of the blueberry farms.... my mom would buy a 10 pound bag every year and freeze most of them.
i actually LOVE just eating them frozen... they make an awesome snack in the summer, like little tiny popsicles! Chat Icon
frozen blueberries are also great for cooking- pies, muffins, etc... just throw them in frozen in the recipe. my betty crocker cookbook has a recipe that tells you the amount of frozen blueberries you wold need versus the amount of fresh..

I love frozen blueberries! I pull a handful out and throw it in w/my cereal and milk. It makes the cereal really cold and almost slushy
