Lake Grove Stop & Shop...
....is apparently closing it's doors..(surprise surprise)...they are clearing it out what inventory they cant move to other stores is going on 75% clearance. (seasonal items etc)..
Has anyone heard what they are going to put in there???

My girlfriend called to tell me this and the cashier told her there was a talk of a BRU or a BRU/TRU combo but she didn't think that last one was viable since TRU is around the corner.

Only the stuff that they can't ship to other stores. Each day since Wednesday there is less and less on the shelves.
What's funny is that aside from there being 1/3 empty it's business as usual. No sign or anything.
Although there is a sign at the front that says something about Hiring..

Makes me wonder if they're going to be opening another one close by in a year or two (isn't there an empty Staples on 347?). That area is too busy to close a store there, and I would imagine the only reason that store was closed because it was falling apart (and it wasn't originally a Stop and Shop, like some of the other ones that got renovated).

There's Waldbaums on 347 just past the mall, another Stop and Shop across the street from Target on Pond Path, and Pathmark and another Waldbaums on 25 in Centereach.
If you're closer to Smithtown, there's another Stop and Shop on 25 and Uncle Giuseppe's on 111.

I tend to go to Shoprite in Hauppauge right on 347. It is a bit farther but the store is very well run and they have really good prices and sales..

im pretty sure this is the one that everyone is talking about. That area is considered lake grove.

I went to Shop Rite yesterday and was buying some sale mandarin oranges in a can....I had DH grab them waaaayyyy in the back of the top shelf because there were hardly any left. I get to the checkout and I notice the date on top says 10 25 2006. I said is that the expiration date!? And the cashier said (very blase) yeah, I'll take those.
IT HAD EXPIRED TWO YEARS AGO!!!!!!! EXPIRED!!!!!!!!!! So just be wary.
I like the Waldbaum's on 347 in the movie theatre complex across from the mall. It's rarely busy and they have good sales. The Stop and Shop in S. Setauket across from Target is also very new, clean, and nice.

The Stop & Shop that is closing was selling out dated everything...like MEAT and FISH!!!!!!!!!!
The one on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma is a nice store as well...I just find Waldbaums prices a bit expensive unless it's on sale. Maybe it's time for me to check it out though.
