Bittersweet victory

A few months ago I decided that my troubles with IF were no excuse to let my body go. So I decided as long as I can't have a baby in my belly I will concentrate on ME, and have my health and beauty.

Well, as of today, I reached my first weight loss goal. I have modified it since, and plan on losing another 5lbs, but I still feel this is a great accomplishment.

A great one, but also bittersweet because honestly, if I had my choice, I'd rather be fat and pregnant than thin and barren Chat Icon But, at least it's something I can celebrate, right?

Re: Bittersweet victory

good for you. if it makes you happy, then your body will be happy.

You are not barren..(drama queen)..

but I know how you feel.

you will find once you take the pressure off of yourself and stop beating yourself up, it will be easier to deal with and maybe, just maybe it may work in your favor.Chat Icon

Well if it makes you feel any better, I have neither. Not pg nor have I lost a pound. Been working out harder than I have in the past, thought i was watching what I was eating and after 4 weeks, nothing. I used to be able to loose weight in the past, I feel like something is wrong with my body. So, congrats for meeting your first goal, that is a great accomplishmentChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon And maybe next cycle you will get that other goalChat Icon

Be patient - there are weeks on end when I see no weight loss and then out of nowhere, I'll lose 3-4 pounds in a week. As long as you stay consistent, it will happen eventually Chat Icon

yeah, me too..working out reguarly, laying off of caffeine, sugar, dairy..lots of water, no fried foods.

tiny little difference in weight but nothing dramatic.

It takes time - lots of it! I started this adventure in February - in 5 months I've taken off about 20lbs and seriously there are WEEKS on end when the scale doesn't budge.

I just keep telling myself the longer it takes to come off, the longer it will STAY off. Slow and steady wins the race Chat Icon

Re: Bittersweet victory

Beth I know that feeling. I remember having been in the gym in my quest to improve my health while TTC and starting my IF journey. A lady in the locker room looked at me and said something to the effect of "I wish I could look like that. I gained 80 pounds while being pregnant and having my son and he's not 80 pounds."

I said "thank you" and said to myself that I would have taken 80 pounds of the 115 I lost back if it could have gotten me PG that much sooner rather than take a year plus a few months out of my life.

You are still doing your body a great service. Keep up the good work. Chat Icon
