too young to be flower girl?

My SIL is getting married next August and DD will be about 15 mths old. She really wants DD to be a flower girl but I don't think she'll be ready by then. What age is the youngest you think a flower girl should be?

My friends daughter was a flower girl at 11 months and it was precious! Her daddy carried her up the aisle. It figures, she started walking the next day!Chat Icon

Re: too young to be flower girl?

Emma was 13 months and a flower girl in my sister's wedding. Nicholas was the ring bearer and I was the MOH so we walked her down together since she wasn't walking on her own yet.

My daughter was 9 months and in a wedding. I was MOH so I walked her down the aisle in a decorated stroller. They decorated it with tulle, flowers and white fabric. Then stupidly gave it a train so I almost killed myselfChat Icon

If it's important & she's prepared that she may need assistance or to be carried down the aisle, I'd say go for it.

It's a lot easier to get a 15 month down the aisle than a 2-4 year old who has his own idea on where he wants to go.

Re: too young to be flower girl?

The only thing to remember is that children that young are unpredictable and a Plan B is sometimes needed i.e. no flower girl. Other than that, it's really cute! She probably cannot do it by herself. I think it's probably easier than a 2+ year old walking down the aisle and crying because they want their mommy.

I don't think it's to young. What's the worst that can happen...she'll want to be carried?

This is true, Emma had a HUGE meltdown right before walking down, screaming, flailing, and I really thought she wasn't going to be able to go down. It didn't help that it was close to her bed time though either.

I love this idea!

DH's half sister was our flower girl at 5 years old - and she was suddenly so shy (after months of eager anticipation) that her older brother had to walk her down the aisle... so there is no age that you are sure whats going to happen!

Def. not too young.. I was going to have our ring bearer my my nephew (he would have been exactly 1 year old) but my sister in law wasnt sure if he would be walking yet.

My flower girl was 11 months old and she couldn't really walk yet. We had her come down the aisle in a little wicker carriage.

My niece was my flower girl and she was 18 months. She walked down with her father...well actually she refused to walk once she saw all the people so he had to carry her. This was nice for my BIL because he wasn't officially in the wedding party but the walked her down and did a reading.

My niece was 18 months and she held the ring bearer and the jr usher's hands. Her mother didn't give her a nap before so she was super cranky and didn't want to take pictures Chat Icon
