Hiding...need help
Hi everyone.
I'm an active poster on LIF. I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago, but had a very low beta. Betas haven't been doubling correctly. Saw the baby on sono the other day. Yolk present, no heartbeat. I should be about 6.5 weeks, but my beta was only about 3000, which is very low. i started with a beta just over 20. I'm supposed to go back next week to see if there is a heartbeat.
Anyone have any success with low betas?
Thanks for reading

Re: Hiding...need help
not personally, but this is very common especially if you ovulated later than you thought i didnt see heartbeat until 7 weeks or so

Re: Hiding...need help
my first guess is that you're NOT 6 weeks... you O'ed later than you thought.... The beta #'s aren't that important. It's more important that you see them doubling. If they are still going up, there is hope!
If you are 5.5 weeks, it would make perfect sense that you only see a yolk sac...
lots of that you see a heartbeat (or at least a fetal pole) next week....

Re: Hiding...need help
The doctor said it is impossible that I ovulated any later than what he thinks because I got a BFP 2 weeks from when he thought I ovulated. Although I've seen lots of cases where girls are getting BFPs 8DPO-10DPO with no issue.
I guess I'm just concerned about my numbers. The doctor is telling me basically that I will miscarry, but I'm trying to hang on to some hope, here.
Thanks everyone for you and

I really hope that is not the case. Your doc doesn't sound like the most optismistic person. It is possible to get BFP's 7-10 days after O. I would get a second opinion.
ETA~ I think too many docs give up hope and "dismiss" these pregnancies way too early. I know of lots of cases when a doc has told people to get a d&c and they went on to have totally normal and healthy pregnancies and babies.

Early next week. I'm going to be freaking out until then...
Thankfully I'm having some pregnancy symptoms including boob soreness and lots of heartburn. Although I had some spicy food yesterday, so who knows if its baby heartburn
The doctor did say the baby is growing. Not sure if that's a good sign or not. First two sonos he didn't see the yolk sac and then he saw one.

I honestly think he may just be the most pessimistic person on the planet. I mean, I know he's setting me up for a fall, but come one. I could use a little bit of hope.

Re: Hiding...need help
Please use a doc that you feel comfortable with. At such a critical time you need to be with a doc that you know actually cares about you. If this is not the case with your current doc, we would all be happy to reccomend a new one. You and you baby deserve the best care.

Re: Hiding...need help
I got my BFP with a cheap test (not the most sensitive) at 11 DPO. it's TOTALLY possible.

Thanks...hopefully if I see a heartbeat by my next sono next week, I'm going to switch doctors. If I don't, really I can only just assume he's correct.
Thank you so much

I hope it all works out. Unfortunately my experience with no heartbeat is not a good one. I am hoping it is different for you and you ovulated later than you think!

Re: Hiding...need help
What were the dates of your betas? There is a site called betabase that you can plug the numbers into and see if they are doubling properly becuase that is what is most important.

Thank you so much for this...heres the data I entered...
13DPO - none (first beta) 14DPO - 52.64hrs 15DPO - 44.64hrs 17DPO - 37.61hrs 20DPO - 48.04hrs 24DPO - 65.93hrs 27DPO - 119.5hrs 31DPO - 78.09hrs
Not looking good. I mean, the rest are okay except for that 27DPO. That's a really bad one. and I know that it starts to slow down a little but that one is pretty bad. I guess I'll find out what happens next week. Thank you so much for your help! This is a great site and I'm going to go back again after my beta next week!

Re: Hiding...need help
My sisters numbers stopped doubling early, her doctor told her to prepare for a miscarriage - my nephew is now 13 years old. Try to stay positive, is could be any number of things. Good luck at your next sono!!!!

OK I think in the first few weeks is when it's important that it doubles. You only had one number a LITTLE out of range so hopefully everything is ok. Keep us posted on how you make out
