Some questions about going to Italy

I'm not even sure if anyone checks this board but I figured this would be the place to post them.

I am going to Italy in a few weeks with my DH, parents and 1 year old son. We are staying in Florence for a week.

Should I bring my Canon SLR camera - or do you think it's too big to lug around? I want to bring it to obviously take amazing pictures - but don't want to have to worry about it the entire trip.

Also - would you recommend wearing flip flops or sneakers? I'm a flip flop kind of girl but some people are saying I should bring a pair of sneakers for all the walking I will be doing.

Any other advice that you have I would greatly appreciate!!!

TIA

I would definitely bring my SLR camera! The sights are beautiful and you want to capture them!
I would bring comfortable walking shoes. People in Europe walk much more than we do in the US and I think wearing flip flops might be very uncomfortable.

Have a GREAT trip!! Italy is GORGEOUS!!!

The camera thing is a individual preference type of thing (although it will probably scream tourist) but if you want good pics and don't mind lugging it around that is your choice. I always brought a group point and shoot rather than my good camera in the past- being able to throw it in a bag or pocket has a lot of advantages.

Shoes - honestly I would wear something that is good for walking - flip flops might be a problem - a lot of the street have cobblestones and several people in my program twisted/sprained their ankles wearing flip flops/slides/platforms etc. I would wear something at least with straps if you want to wear sandals. I actually wore a very comfy pair of sandals that had good straps and were actually more comfortable than my sneakers.

I have no idea about the camera size, but Florence is gorgeous, so I would take whichever camera took the best pics and made dh carry it Chat Icon

as for shoes, flip flops give you ZERO support. do yourself and your feet a favor at at least get something with a cushion and some shock absorption. If you have "fit flops" or something similar, that would be better.

any kind of comfy kicks would be fine.

eat LOTS of gelato in Florence. it's arguably the best in Italy.

have fun!!!!!

I would say sneakers b/c you will walk soooo much. But Italy is freakin' HOT in July, so maybe just find the most supportive sandals/flops you can? I am a flip flop addict, and I have found Rainbows to be very easy on the feet. Have fun!

I love when you post things on here instead of just asking me...lol

Wear comfy shoes.. flip flops will HURT your feet! Don't go buy a new pair of sneakers though and try to wear them, you'll get blisters.

Bring the SLR... JC can carry it... LOVE LOVE LOVE Florence!!! The gelato is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, get it everynight till you're sick of it, you'll miss it when you leave.
